Happy Wednesday, everyone! I hope your week has been going pretty well so far!
Things have been going absolutely CRAZY at work. Yes, it's another "secret" project that's making us lose our minds so I was delighted to find some goodies in my mailbox!

The Polaroid is one of the two awesome purchases I made from Mini Penny Vintage. The one that's not pictured is this wonderful liquid silver skirt that I'm hoping to be able to start wearing once the winter weather decides to exit stage left. I was super excited to see the Polaroid camera up for sale that I had to snatch it up right away! And last night, I ordered some film from the Impossible Project(the direct link isn't working right now...?). I almost didn't buy the film since the reviews were iffy and the price is a little high for only 8 exposures but whatever. YOLO and all that, right?
I love getting the emails from Tumblr on your blog's birthday and I was so happy to see that the She Loves You Tumblr has turned 5! So crazy how time flies!
I'm not going to write about the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show this year. I was irritated by it. The looks weren't as jaw-droppingly gorgeous as last year or the year before and I have a bone to pick with Rihanna. I'm not that big of a fan of her music and I don't particularly like her attitude as of late - especially after the coverage of her 777 Tour. I was a little disappointed with VS for hosting her.
I was also disappointed with the "paparazzi style" camera work this year. Yes, I know it's their thing but it felt like they were overdoing it this year. Normally, you get cool shots of the girls in slo-mo (which they had), and doing cute poses (which they did) but I don't think some of the girls got the love they deserved. In the Calendar Girls segment (where Miss January got barked at as they were trying to figure out if they should keep the hat or lose it - normal backstage shit but we don't need to see that), I don't remember seeing Miss November at all! And they could've showcased the beauty that is Liu Wen - especially since she had all that beautiful work done for the Circus segment!
The reception to this look hasn't been good but I think it's gorgeous! I thought it was one of the better looks since I still heart Carnivale. She was a vision and I loved it!
And to spare you of my Avid drama at work, I've started a blog to chronicle my uneasy transition.
I hope to maybe connect with other FCP-to-Avid users and maybe swap stories or get / share tips. Feel free to follow! If I get enough followers, I might open the submissions for editors, motion graphics artists, graphic designers and other artists to share their stories as well!
I don't know if you you know but there's this new(-ish) craze sweeping the Fashion-O-Sphere. It's the Cinemagraph. I'm kidding. Of course you already know.
Part photo, part gif, the Cinemagraph was developed by Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg with amazing results at New York Fashion Week last year.
I first saw this Cinemagraph of Coco Rocha and fell in love
Since then, I've been seeing altered gifs resembling these photo / video hybrids. Especially at a gif's favourite party place: Tumblr. I've also read a fewarticleson them and how to make them.
While the technique seems easy enough, it's harder to come up with actual ideas for them. My friends and I collaborated and we shot some footage for some but they just turned out as glorified gifs. Bummer. We really wanted to create images like this

Nothing too fancy or exciting but dammit, we did it. I still need to figure out how to make it work properly but until then, this will do.
Naturally, because the Cinemagraph is super hot, there's an app for that. No seriously, there's an app called Cinemagram. You KNOW I downloaded that shit too, right? Here are some of my gems:
This app kind of makes me want to get a nifty tripod / stabilizer for my phone just so I can shoot these ALL THE TIME! LOL. But seriously.

Last night's Glee was quite possibly the cutest episode of this season so far! Although new Warbler Sebastian came on a little TOO strong to Blaine (who wouldn't?!), I thought he was totally adorable. Blaine was totally swoon-worthy throughout the entire episode - yes, even the drunk parts - and Kurt was just as precious as ever.
I couldn't help but think of my first time. I felt like Tina while she was talking about hers. My first time wasn't as perfect as hers but it was definitely memorable and makes a great story!
I'll admit I could've done without Rachel and Finn's story and I LOVED that Coach Bieste got some action last night! And I was wondering if Damian McGinty's brief cameo in last night's episode counted as one of his 7 that he won from The Glee Project. It better not because I heart him too much for him to just be in the background...
I was also wondering why Atlanta doesn't have a club called Scandals! I would love it! Geoff said that we should open one and we could offer 1/2 off drink specials for Project Runway viewing parties - which would elevate from live-blogging to UStream video blogging (YESSS!) - and we could have Drag Race viewing parties and themed drag nights. That would be my ultimate drag fantasy come true!! I would LOVE IT! Universe, it's in your hands to help me make this a reality! I want this!!! I need this!!!
Aaaaaaanyways...the She Loves You Tumblr is joining in on "The Morning After" gif posts from last night's episode so, I'll duck out of here and continue the reblogging of the cutest gifs from last night. And just so you all know, I haven't been this giddy about an episode of Glee since Kurt and Blaine's first kiss! Memories!
I didn't realize last night was going to be so cold so I didn't dress accordingly. As I stood outside and shivered, I listed to conversations being had by kids who were at Drunken Unicorn for the first time ever - which made me wonder: What was my first ever Drunken Unicorn show? I can't remember but I can say that I've seen almost everything there and the excitement that the kids were feeling about seeing Star Slinger was so great that I was getting all giddy too.
Star Slinger was one of my first ever Tumblr friends. I'm always happy to get reblogs from him and even happier when he posts tracks. I had this idea in the back of my mind that he might remember me from Tumblr, so I decided I'd use that as my intro - at the complete risk of sounding like a fangirl (which I totally am). Not gonna lie, I was expecting to be a little star struck when I sat down with Star Slinger last night at Drunken Unicorn but instead, I felt like I was talking to an old friend (and yes, I was completely star struck too). I called him by his real name and said, "I don't know if you know me but we blog together on Tumblr" to which he said, "I know! You're Katzi! Thank you so much!" I was beyond ecstatic that he remembered me even though I haven't been on Tumblr that much lately. I was totally fangirling but I had to reel it in. He was saying that I have been there from almost the beginning and I said it was amazing to have seen his progress so quickly. He's the coolest, mot chill guy and it was great talking with him. It was even cooler when kids came up to him while we were talking to tell him how awesome he was. Crazy!
After the initial shock of "OMG I'm talking to Star Slinger", the show was really great! I didn't realize Time Wharp was from Atlanta. I need to check that kid out more! His set was the perfect start to an amazing show.
I have to say, I only knew Shlohmo from the Friends of Friends comp and Star Slinger, so I wasn't expecting the awesomeness that was Time Wharp and Shigeto. Shigeto blew me away! That kid played live drums over his loops! Crazy!!
His set was pretty chill too and I started getting more and more into it.
I got a little bold and decided to try and make it front and center for Shlohmo. Done and done. He opened up with Aaliyah - which was fucking amazing - but as I scanned the crowd, I saw more blank stares than I thought I would - which made me sing out even louder!
His set was the perfect lead in to Star Slinger.
I maintained my place at the front of the stage and jumped up during the last song. That shit was crazy! He got the whole place going NUTS!! It was the most fun I've had at a smaller venue in a long time and I was so happy that Star Slinger was FINALLY in town and getting his music out there for more people to experience. It renewed my faith in Atlanta's music scene. I saw so many smiles in the crowd when I was on stage and it made me so happy that there's at least one genre of Atlanta music fans that can get over themselves and just enjoy the fucking music. It was amazing! I want Star Slinger to come through again! Maybe next time he'll let me buy him a shot or two...
When I joined Tumblr not too long ago, I never would have thought there would be so many blogs that were open to submissions! It was awesome! I was hoping that whatever content I submitted would be chosen to be looked at by millions of viewers - if it was good enough. I started combing through all my party photos - looking for just the right submission to LATFH and I'd found it: a photo from 8/2/08 - the night that Sloppy Seconds got moved from the flooded MJQ to above sea level Graveyard. It was rainy, crowded and unusually crazy. There was this guy in attendance who was kind of hamming it up for the camera - any camera, so I clicked away at him to see what kind of ridiculousness I could get and it was enough ridiculousness for LATFH - the book!
I'm very proud of myself, I must say. Some of the other photos are awesome and x100000 way more out there than mine! And even though it may be a silly thing to be excited over, I still am. It's fucking awesome to see my photo in a book! Technically, I'm a published photographer! Hell yes! And it's all thanks to Joe Mande and Look At This Fucking Hipster. Oh and also the hipsters.
Look for the book in bookstores on March 30! I got an advanced copy because I'm awesome like that.
And, apparently, the guy in the photo is Cory Enemy - a DJ / producer from LA. Exposure? I think so - but I would like a confirmation, just to make sure the right person is getting credit.

I never submit / contribute anything to sites because I feel like my contributions just aren't that good enough. But there is one site that I did submit a story to and I'm glad they blogged it. On the tumblogs, there's a wonderful page called Fuck Yeah Kissing, a place to post stories and photos of your first kiss or your favourite kiss or whatever involves kissing. It's not vulgar at all and I love it because I think kissing is one of the best activities a couple can do. So, feeling all nostalgic, I decided I would submit (one of) my favourite kissing moments, hoping it would get posted and it did! I came across it today, as a matter of fact. How exciting! I probably could have written it better but I got swept up in the moment, replaying it in my mind over and over just to get the details right. I remember it as if it were yesterday (when, in fact, it was 10 years ago). What makes it feel like a not too distant memory is that I drive by the area it took place on my way home from work as my back road / scenic route to avoid the highway. I can still remember all the little details because it was so cinematic (in my memory, at least) that of course I would remember every single thing. And it was a cinematic kiss with my first true love. Why not share that? Especially on such a great site. Thanks for posting my kissing story, Fuck Yeah Kissing, and keep up the good work!
I've been managing to keep up with my Dreamboat of the Day thing at the Tumblr. To honour a conversation Double D and I had yesterday about the movie Down With Love, I have decided to make the 6th day Dreamboat Ewan McGregor. Those eyes, those lips, that voice!!! Mr. McGregor has made a shitload of movies and not all of them are great (sorry, Ewan!) BUT - most of them are pretty freaking awesome. I have listed my top 5 here. Of course, it was hard to pick my top 5 but I had to because he has done a lot of really good ones. My favourite Ewan memory is when I learned that my aunt is BFFs with Charley Boorman. No big deal, right? WRONG!!! Charley Boorman participated in the Long Way Round series with Mr. McGregor himself as they rode their motorcycles across the world. It was a great show. And where was their last stop along the way? Why, NYC, of course. Who did Charley call when they arrived? My aunt of course! Craziness, pure craziness. I'm 1 degree away from Mr. McGregor. *le sigh* But I digress. I should really be mentioning the movies where he *ahem* "exposes" himself. Those are probably his BEST roles. Just kidding! Although, some of my favourite McGregor moments are the ones where you can see his junk. Here are a few examples: Curt Wild's entrance into Brian Slade's world in Velvet Goldmine, the only watchable scenes in Young Adam are the ones where Ewan is sexing up the ladies (that IS one of the main reasons I bought that movie but I should really give it another watch because I only saw it once and once was enough when it came to Tilda Swinton - Sorry!) and, of course, the Pillow Book. The Pillow Book came out in 1996. I was 16 or so when I found it at my house the next summer. You see, my Mom had a habit of renting foreign films from the local Blockbuster and it became very apparent to me that foreign meant pornographic/ semi-pornographic after I accidentally (I swear it was accidental - it was one of those "Once you see it, you can't un-see it" movies) watched Paris, France. ANYWAYS - after that eye-burning experience when I was 14, I knew that foreign = dirty, dirty movies. So, I decided to take a look-see at The Pillow Book. And I think that's when my infatuation with Mr. McGregor began. Not only was he nude, he was also handsome and it was a beautiful story. So to honour Mr. McGregor's acheivements (and our convo, Double D), Ewan McGregor is the Dreamboat of the Day today. I will leave you with one of my fave songs from Moulin Rouge! and the other song that makes me cry hysterically every time I watch/listen to it (because it speaks to me in a way that I can't really explain except with the initials DDM):

The other day, my BF and I were trying to find something to watch on TV when we stumbled upon Cartoon Network's new "Real" thing that they're doing. I stopped in the hopes that it would be Destroy Build Destroy so that I could check out Andrew W.K. and lo and behold, it was what we had stopped on but it was...a little boring. Well, at first. The best part would have to be (of course) when they're blowing shit up at the end! But the only reason I stayed on it was for one thing: Mr. Party Hard's smile. I will admit, a few years back I HATED Andrew W.K. with a passion. My thought was, "Who the FUCK sings about partying ALL THE TIME??? Who?!" But someone showed me the then controversial I Get Wet album cover and I put aside the grossness of his always sweaty white jeans and tee and thought to myself, "Man, that guy is hot - even with a bloody nose". But I still didn't like his music. So, I went on with my dilemma: being very attracted to Andrew W.K. but hating his music until one Warped Tour summer in 2002 or 2003. I was on my way to Tiger Army (I think) and I looked over to the main stage where Andrew W.K. was performing with none other than my friend Roury Miller on his shoulders. Something happened to me that day. Something awesome. I ditched my friends who were on their way to Tiger Army (I think) and went over to Andrew W.K.'s audience. Everyone was smiling and having...fun! It was the greatest thing I had ever seen! I forgot about hating his music and LOVED it. I loved all of it - the show, the crowd, the sweaty jeans and tee, the long, greasy, sweaty black hair, the partying - EVERYTHING. Like a moth to a flame, I bought "I Get Wet" and played the hell out of it. I still do, actually. But there is one song in particular by Mr. W.K. that gets me all riled up: Make Sex. Well, it's not really a song as much as it is the world's greatest anthem - next to Party Hard, of course! A year later (I think), I went to see him at the Masquerade with my BF (one of the few shows he's accompanied me on). It was AWESOME. I didn't think they'd let people get on stage but when you get enough punks rushing it, you're not really going to dodge them. So, needless to say, I got up on stage and shared a mic with Mr. Andrew W.K. himself! We somehow got smushed together, sweat and all, on the drum set. It was painful but worth it - especially when he read my shirt ("Vincent Price is a Pimp"), smiled and said, "That's the raddest fucking thing I've ever seen!" I will always remember that because it was the greatest fun I had (at that point) at a show. So, after reminiscing and being charmed by his smile, I decided that I would start a "Dreamboat of the Day" on the Tumblr with Andrew W.K. to kick it off. It was also an excuse to post that particular photo of A.W.K. Wowzers meowzers!
Hopefully, I'll be able to keep it up.

I've been keeping my ear to the Tumblin' arena lately and since they started doing this "Popular Stuff" thing on their front page, I tripped on this little video and had to reblog it to share the love. I made a CD of this today for my courier trip and it is simply beautiful. I could get lost in this all day. We've started a Tumblr! She Loves You And So Do I is a tumbleblog now! Now, why a Tumbleblog you ask? Well, it's more for "short form" blogging. I like it because I can do quickie posts during my (short) downtimes AND I can post a photo to, let's say...mine and Lala's outing to The Glamour at MJQ last Saturday and link it to the photo album on my FB page! Pretty sweet, huh? I mean, I know it's not that big of a deal and it will probably turn into something extra to manage along with this page but it's totally worth it.
