Wednesday Gif Party!

For this week's gif party, I'll start on what gave me severe panic attacks on Sunday:

That nod that Walt gives as the "okay" to shoot Jesse was terrible and Jesse's reaction was heartbreaking! UGH...

MOVING ON

Here's a pug being cute

I think Tina might be my spirit animal...

Since I got my Wavves tickets in the mail for the 10/8 Masquerade show (the day after my birthday, y'all!), here's Stephen being...sexy...(?)

Afternoon Pick-Me-Up

While this weekend was a sad one, it also perked up some.  In order to distract myself from the terrible weather and Justin's passing, I...cooked?  That's right - I made stuff.  And I'm surprising myself by keeping up with She Loves You Fit Blog!  I guess it's pretty easy since I have it attached to She Loves You Blog on the Tumblr app on my phone...
I'm also keeping up with my new Vanity Plates blog!  I've gotten a few Tumblr submissions and lots more texted / emailed to me for posting and I love it!  I hope you guys love it, too!  Follow it!  Promote it!  Submit your own!!  Funny enough, the MOST reblogged tag has been this one.  Aww!

I also found out that Nathan Williams Instagrammed one of my photos!!!

Crazy, right?!  Does that make us friends now??  Just kidding (but seriously...are we?!?!??)

I also added music to the funniest gif I've seen in a while on Tumblr.

I mean...it just FIT, you know?  The song, the gif, the suit, the dance...It was meant to be.  Don't worry - there will be more...

Also - did you hear: Yahoo! bought Tumblr.  This should be interesting...or not.  (I'm hoping not that way everything stays the same)

Wavves!!

Yesterday was quite possibly the weirdest day ever.
It started with my mandatory reporting for Jury Duty.  When I got the original jury summons last October, I had to have it rescheduled because of Cassie and Mark's wedding.  The rescheduled date wasn't a problem until we had to reschedule a mandatory software training at work in January.  I reported for that date but I informed the staff that I had mandatory training at work but I showed up because of the reschedule.  They told me I could reschedule again but I HAD to report or else!  Just kidding - but I really did have to report or else I would've been in trouble (apparently).
Lo and behold - my jury duty was scheduled the same day as Wavves!  So I made a day of it in the city.
I had anticipated being at the courthouse all day but I was luckily let go at lunch time so I rolled around Atlanta - stopping at Cameli's for pizza, killing time at UO (getting a wardrobe update for that night and good thing I did because it was hot!) and meeting up with Michael for some coffee talk

Mocha madness Double espresso

And then it came time to hang until showtime.  I settled in to the parking lot of Book House until they opened (getting my eyebrows wrangled next door) and once the doors opened, I planted myself at the bar and had a few dark and stormies.  Lauren was kind enough to meet me once she got off work and I entertained myself by talking to this guy who had his California driver's license on the bar.  I asked him where in Cali he was from and he told me that he was actually from Hawaii and we started talking about island living and all that fun stuff and I honestly had no idea it was the lead singer of FIDLAR that I was talking to.  WHAT

So - that was crazy.  FIDLAR was AMAZING.  So were the Cheatahs.  I wish I had more cash so I could've bought CDs from each but I spent most of my cash on booze and some Wavves goodies.

Wavves was INCREDIBLE.  The energy was so much better than last time, I have to admit.  Last time was awesome, don't get me wrong but this time was even more awesome because this happened

I was able to get way better photos than last time (despite having to crop out some guy's ridiculously large and obtrusive afro - which you can see here) and overall, it was just fucking awesome!!  I mean, we all know how much I LOVE Afraid of Heights and experiencing those songs live was pretty amazing.

I also ran into my most FAVE BLOGGER EVER - Matt T.  He let me know they were hitting up the Clermont - which you can read about here.  I kinda wish I had stayed but I was really exhausted since I got up so freakin early for jury duty...All in all, it was a great fucking night!  Thanks Wavves, FIDLAR and Cheatahs!  You guys were great!

Wavves is BACK and better than ever

I was going to save this Wavves post until AFTER the show here in Atlanta next Monday but I can't wait any longer.

Afraid of Heights is AMAZING.

When Demon to Lean on was released, I was reblogging the crap out of it on Tumblr and I shared all his video posts of any and all performances of that track on Facebook.  When I heard about the pre-order, I signed up - a little too late - and I ended up missing out on the limited-to-500-pressing of the splatter vinyl of Afraid of Heights.  *Sigh* but I did get my t-shirt, a regular record, two CDs and 3 pins (which I lost almost immediately - ffffffff...)

I think I love this album so much because:

1-Nathan (and friends) paid for it themselves.  That's a pretty crazy feat in itself and you have to give major props for that - even if you aren't a fan of his music.

2-The lyrics, while they sometimes seem childish, have this underlying seriousness as if they were a not-so-serious-serious cry for help. Maybe not for Nathan specifically but maybe to you or me as the listener. I could be reading way to much into it (like I tend to do) but think about it next time you listen to a few tracks...And you have to admit, ladies, you'd like to be on the receiving end of one of his catchy loves songs, right?

3-Even though it was hard and we had Life Sux to calm our nerves for a bit, he took his time to make what he wanted and it was definitely worth the wait.  There's no denying that.  Afraid of Heights is wonderful and I suggest that you grab it (if you haven't already) and turn that shit up.

Sweet Valley - More Fall Sounds

I've found another album you can add to your Fall playlist (along with this one) and this time, it's coming from my favourite King of Things: Nathan Williams.
I know what you're thinking - Whoa!  Wavves has a new album?  Not just yet.  I'm sure you're aware Nathan and his little bro have a collab called Sweet Valley and they recently put up a 13 track album for FREE DOWNLOAD!

I can't stop listening to it!  It makes me inspired to make more videos like this and, coincidentally, Jay and I shot this around this time last year so maybe it's a combination of the music and the season that gives me that inspirational boost?  We'll see if he's up for some more filming.

Enjoy!

Happy (belated) Birthday to Nathan Williams!

Last week, Nathan Williams celebrated his 26th birthday with the fine folks over at Spin.
Nathan streamed back into the front of my stream of consciousness via HereKitty's Instagram when she posted this lovely cover photo:

Because the photo was so small in my IG feed, I almost passed right over but I'd recognize those two anywhere.  How cute are they?!  I am now on a mission to retrieve this particular issue when it comes out!  I toyed with downloading it via the Spin app on my iPad but I'd much rather hold it in my hands (and tear out the photos). I mean, how perfect would it be to have this photo on my wall?

That would go perfectly with my Summer is Forever iPod playlist...And since I've been playing nothing but Wavves and Best Coast exclusively the last few days, it seems fitting.

I feel like Summer is passing me by at a rapid pace and even on the trip I'll be taking next month, I know I won't be able to really relax because I have to hit the ground running once I get back.  Ugh.  Maybe I can relax in the tail end of August.  Maybe get some West Coast air...

A little Wavves for your afternoon enjoyment

Since I'm in a Summer mood, I'd like to share that with you all by posting this video of Wavves performing King of the Beach at the Drunken Unicorn on September 30, 2010.  You'll have to fast-forward to around 3:06 or feel free to watch the first song as well!

September 2010, huh? That's an awful long absence from Mr. Williams in the ATL. I wish I had the chance to see him on the Weezer Cruise but I had to miss it because of work. I also won't get a chance to see him at the Primavera Festival (for geographical and monetary reasons) but I'm hoping that Nathan decides to come back soon and rock our faces off. I'm dying to hear Poor Lenore live!!  And maybe by then I'll have Poor Lenore all finished up to *possibly* bring with me in a feeble attempt to try and show or give it to him, maybe.  We'll see.  I don't want to look like a total fangirl / tool...

I finally get my Wavves Starter cap!

I was one of the unfortunate few that missed out on the white Mishka x Wavves Starter caps. It was a very sad moment for me as a Wavves fan. Lucky for me, I'm tracking the "Wavves" tag on my tumblr (not creepy at all) and I saw this post - promting me to search the interwebs.

BOOM! Here's the link!

I will be the proud owner of this beauty soon

Get yours before they're sold out!

How a day around Atlanta turned into a newfound inspiration

In October my friend, and fellow Videographer, Jeremiah and I rode around Atlanta to gather some footage for a top secret music video project.  The results were quite amazing and we just so happened to shoot on the same day as the Little 5 Points Halloween parade and we took a chance at going to the Belt Line Skate Park.
We had never heard of the skate park and I had only heard it mentioned once by my old man's friend - who was visiting from Colorado.  So we thought, why not?
While there, there were quite a few people skating around - including some little kids.  We wanted to try and use the crane Jeremiah had acquired - which we did - but it was better to shoot most of this type of action all hand-held.
There was one guy who stood out of the crowd of skaters not only because he didn't really care that our lens was pointed at him but because he was good.  He asked us what we were shooting for and we told him it was going to be for a music video but I butted in and promised a skate video of just his footage - to go along with the photos I had already sent him.
A few months went by and I finally was able to get to his footage.  It all fell into place, really.  The first song I picked just happened to be a Wavves song (surprise, surprise) and it fit.  "So Bored" fit the lazy last days of Summer vibe I was trying to channel.  I was afraid our talent would get offended at the song choice but I think he liked it.  Every other song I tried didn't quite fit...

Anyways - here is the video in all its glory:

Let me tell you, it was crazy fun to edit and I hope that we all get together soon to collab on some sweet footage because I have discovered that our skater friend has other talents that I would LOVE to get footage of. No, I won't tell you what they are because I want them to be a surprise!  I think I might have found my newest inspiration to get me out of my rut and start start creating again!
Thank you my dear friend!

Inspiration in an unlikely place

A few months back I bought some canvases to try and make something like this for my "home office"

Full tutorial for these here

It wasn't working for me because I still had to stencil out the FCP logo and all that fun stuff but my heart just wasn't in it.  Thinking I could get it back in the game, I kept the canvases stashed away until I felt like making AE and FCP related art.  Sadly, I couldn't get myself to so the project was abandoned.  I liked the idea of having blank canvases, though.  My old man likes to create too.  I was hoping that seeing them around would give him a much needed boost to start creating again...

Feeling down and lonely on Friday night, I stayed up and watched some movies on Netflix Instant hoping the sadness would creep its way out of my mind but instead, it burrowed its way into my heart.  I didn't sleep much and we spent much of Saturday out of the house - which was a good thing since I needed to escape.  All day I found myself humming my new favourite song: "Poor Lenore" off of Wavves' "Life Sux" EP.
