Rosewater DIY + Tijuana Rose Margarita Recipe

After Valentine's Day, my boyfriend and I fell into a rather LARGE concentration of roses.  How large?

I was very excited to receive that many roses, to be honest. I love them! They're all so beautiful...but what do I do with dozens of roses?  My boyfriend had the grandest idea: make rose simple syrup.  Of course!  I looked up some rose simple syrup recipes and they all started with the same ingredient: rosewater.  It's a lot easier to make than you might think!

Valentine's Weekend

Happy Monday! If you're in Georgia, you're probably waiting for Snowpocalypse 2015 to come around. I know I am...not actually doing that because I want it to be Spring already!

White Roses Tablescape Tablescape

I hope you had a nice weekend.  I know I did!  My bestie and I went on a Lady Date to see FSOG on Friday night.  It was hilariously bad.  Rita Ora in a terrible wig, crappier-than-the-book dialogue (for reals), and steamy scenes that get ruined by the crappy dialogue.  If I had closed my eyes and forgotten what I was in the theater to see, I would've thought I was seeing some sort of comedy because everyone was laughing that much.  Seriously.  The best part: seeing the Magic Mike XXL trailer on the big screen!  I can't wait for that one to come out :)

On Saturday, my boyfriend took over my kitchen and prepared dinner for us.  It was very sweet because, according to him, he only knows how to cook one thing: chorizo tacos.  They were so freaking delicious!  I loved every bit of them!

After dinner, I supplied the dessert.  I didn't take any photos because I was doing too many things at the same time, but I did take some of the finished product!  I made a Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie - which was delicious.  It was even better the next day.  I didn't know it at the time I made it but my boyfriend told me that one of his favorite childhood memories was when his Mom would make...you guessed it: Peanut Butter Pie for him and his sister.  I had NO idea that was a happy flavor from his childhood!  How serendipitous!

This weekend was full of serendipitous moments.  We had a blast!  I was even able to make something very special this weekend.  Post to come soon!

What did you do this weekend?

Happy Valentine's Day Weekend!

Valentine Valentines Valentine Valentines #Valentine shoutout to my shorty!

Happy FSOG Day (aka pre-Valentine's Day)! FSOG will be sure to get all the ladies revved up for tomorrow! LOLJK but seriously - Happy Friday!

What's all this emoji nonsense?  Those are *some* of the Valentines I'm giving to my BFFs this year!  That's right - I took the emoji route because, well, who doesn't like emojis?!
For one of my "serious" Valentines, I took the classic heart+arrow+banner watercolor approach and added a little sass.  I tried doing a pretty 3D version with Illustrator (ughhhh) and Photoshop but it just wasn't coming together AT ALL...then I tried to do a pretty little illustration in the style of my new design crush Lauren Hom, but it just wasn't doing what I wanted it to do (because I'm not as pretty or as talented as her *sad face*) so I went with my pretty, tried-and-true method: watercolors, hearts, banners and arrows.  After a few crude sketches, I arrived at what you see above: "You'll always be my shorty".  I tried a different kind of card stock, which was interesting because the calligraphy ink bled in weird places.  That could have been a result of uneven pressure, probably.  Oh well!  My Valentine received it early and he loved it!

Valentines Valentines

So what's with the Cheesy Pick-Up Lines zine?  Well, I saw Gala Darling's #MEGABABEMISSION for February: Make a MiniZine and at first, I wanted to go serious with a cute guide to ATL's prettiest art pieces (which I will probably still end up making, tbh) but in the spirit of Valentine's Day, I wanted to take emojis and make a list of cute and cringe-worthy pick-up lines for a laugh!  Print one out if you'd like!

Do you have any fun Valentine's plans?

Full disclosure: I'm normally not a huge Valentine's Day fan but for some reason this year I feel like spreading the love - not just to my BF, but to EVERYONE!

Long renders = crafting time!

Triangles for some bunting I'm going to attempt... Working on a valentine (or two)

During a very long render at work yesterday, I cut up some triangles so that when I got home, I could make pretty little Valentine bunting AND turned two paper straws into arrows!  I love them so much!  I'm trying to find a way to mount them around the house...

For the bunting, I arranged the triangles in a pretty color order, wrote out scripty letters and sewed them together using regular thread.  I think I might opt for 2-3 strands of embroidery floss for the next set.  I will also try not to watch Teen Wolf while I do this because I kept stabbing my fingers!  If you watch the show, I'm really worried about Stiles.  His condition (not knowing whether you're asleep and dreaming or awake in real life) really freaks me out.  Like, A LOT.  If you don't watch the show, please disregard that last part...

For the arrows, I looked at the photo here and made my own version with black construction paper.  It's so easy!  I think I might do this to all my things - pencils, pens, plastic straws...

Long renders also mean I can attempt to follow along with Omiyage Blogs and their Kirigami Project!
Mine don't look *quite* the same but it's still a lot of fun!  Also - I need to sharpen my work scissors because the jagged edges are NOT cute!

Happy Wednesday!

♥Valentine's Day♥...Huzzah!

♥Valentines Day♥. Definitley not a day I will forget any time soon. Honestly I can't remember the last guy that took me out on February 14th so how could I pass up such a charming offer from such a charming man?

The original plan was to stay in and watch movies. Everyone that I spoke with had a fantastic time as they stayed at home with a loved one. He asked if I wanted to go out. I said, "Sure it'll be fun."

So here we are. Valentines Night. I'm looking cute. He's looking oh so handsome. My ladies and gays are hot as ever. We are ready to do this! So, being the responsible person that I am, I ask my escort to make sure I don't drink. Why? Well because I had no sleep last night and I wanted to be safe. 1st spot we hit is the Masquerade.

The venue isn't packed...yet. We all know that Afterlife can get out of control and it's well on its way. Unfortunately we must be on our way to our next spot. We get to the car. I look around me and I pull out into the empty lot in front....SCREECH...thud! I look at my date and quickly realize the back end of my car is at an incline... OMG.....I drove off the retaining wall! My first thought is "crap" my second thought is " the back tires better be on the ground or else we are stuck!" So, instead of hopping out and assessing the damage, my dumb ass puts on the gas. ....SCREEEECH...thud! I look at my date again with a "Ok we're down and not stuck" look. I slowly pull forward and hear the most god awful sound... crap! Before I can react, he's out of the car checking things out. What's the damage? Broken tail pipe. It's dragging on the ground. I'm in shock...well, it's more embarrassment than shock...I can't believe I just drove off of a wall!... I stare at him while as he attempts to remove the newly created nuisance. Breathe...calm down... I look around and see wall, wall, trees, cars....crap, are we stuck?! I wander away looking...praying for an opening... Aha! We can fit through there for sure. My date has abandoned trying to remove the tailpipe (good job on securing that thing Saturn!) and joins me in looking for a way out. Through here! Yeah?..I'll guide you... I manage to squeeze through and we decide the best thing to do is go to the Kroger across the street...we'll duct tape this puppy up!

So. Here we are. Valentines Night. Driving infront of a packed club. Dragging a tail pipe.

There's something dragging on your car!

....I wave.. Yeah thanks, I know!

Hey! Your car has something dragging on it!

Yeah I know...thank you.

Gestures at me

I give a thumbs up and an ok...

Finally we get to Kroger. Get out, duct tape and jimmy rig this thing up.... success!

Well, needless to say that event certainly put a cloud on things...I tried to shake it off but I still felt like an idiot for doing what I did. We make it to Sloppy and to El Bar but sadly not to Broke & Boujee because I am crashing. Please, I know you really want to go but I'm emotionally and physically drained....can we go home? Sure babe. Whatever you want.

So the evening ends with us at home watching an animation classic....the original plan. What more can a girl ask for? Good company and a good movie. All is right with the world in my eyes

Love. Luck. Lollipops
