DJ Ehyeh - the coolest house DJ you're NOT listening to (jerks!)

When I started working where I currently am now (I can't say where because we had a HUGE meeting about it), I met this wacky, loud-mouthed, dread-locked guy named Aaron. He was the in-house audio master: he recorded all the live audio for the DVDs we make and did the music editing and mixed all the pretty audio files for us to use in our final exports. *sigh* What a guy!
Last year, he told us all he was leaving for Florida to be with his family. By that time, we had become friends and I let him know about my love for techno - especially DnB. As a parting gift, he gave me a bunch of old CD mixes from him and his friends that have gotten pretty heavy play time on my iPod.
Well, he recently moved back to Georgia and he now is set up with our friends: the lovely Wendy and Brad. I go over there from time to time to shoot our interpretive art film that has yet to be named and I occasionally run into Aaron (usually while intoxicated).
I happened to be at Wendy and Brad's last Friday and Aaron bestowed upon me the greatest DVD ever: 17 hours of his own house mixes. 17 hours. Fucking AWESOME. Sadly, my poor little iPod had room for 4 hours only but these 4 hours are amazing and I can't wait to hear the others. It's perfect background music for what I do and it's awesome music to get hype to. I feel like my office has turned into Afterlife and Preston Craig has everyone sweating.
Get your hands on these MP3s (or ask me and I'll pick a random track to burn for you) and get your ass on the dance floor. STAT.

Daisy of Love Revelations

While the sky was falling on Atlanta this weekend, I had the pleasure of catching up to my new favourite show: Daisy of Love.

I immediately fell in love with London - who made Daisy say "It's Daisy of Love, not I love Liquor!" And I also went googoo for Sinister (even though I don't know much about him). But the one guy that had me swooning the most was Professor. He left early (for boring Daisy to death, apparently). Professor was cute, quiet, shy and just wacky enough (stretched ear holes) for the show, I think. He balanced the heavy dose of CRAZY out nicely. Too bad...
One guy I wish would go home is 12 Pack. Hmmm...let's see...where do you know him from? Oh that's right - I love New York and I Love Money. I think he's on Daisy of Love to be on TV, honestly. I mean, it's pretty freakin' obvious. But there was another familiar face on the show...Big Rig. The farmer / country boy. Why did he look familiar??? Then it hit me! Remember that VH1 show America's Most Smartest Model? Remember the crazy Russian, Andre? Big Rig totally reminded me of Andre.



I'm sure they're not the same person, but damn it, they do look similar.
Anyways - I had a few thoughts concerning the contestants on the show and here they are:


Brooklyn and 12 Pack have got to go, in my honest opinion. They lack personality and I don't think Flipper sucked all the crazy out of the house when he left, I think he injected more in.
poor Triplets, too. All they wanted was free füd, free booze and free air time (probably).
And yes, I AM missing someone because VH1 didn't have his profile up at all! Who could it be, you ask? Why, the only black guy of course! What's up with that?!

CNN is hip to kids these days! I think...

I was working at North Avenue Post yesterday and I happened to be in the Machine Room (aka the Glass Case of Emotion) bothering Mario (as usual - except it was the DVD Edition), and I noticed a wacky headline: First 100 Days: Assessing the “Swagga”.



And according to Buzz Feed I missed the most awkward fist bump EVER.



But the headline was there all day. I promise you. Because I walked by the TV at a later time of day, saw the headline and said, "We're CNN. We're hip to what the kids are saying these days, yessirree," while wagging my finger and doing a crotchety version of the Kid 'n Play. You know the dance I'm talking about...

I can only imagine what Anderson Cooper thought when he saw that headline / fist bump combo...

Your new favourite (local) bands

So, I've been re-connecting with old friends via Facebook and Myspace (but mostly Facebook) and it's been a little awkward but very rewarding.
The best thing that happened was that I was checking up on a friend by the name of Ryan. We recently found each other on FB and I was checking out what he was up to (different from FB stalking btw) and I noticed he was in a band called Little Tybee and they were playing that night at Drunken Unicorn. Joy! I really wanted to see Ryan since I hadn't seen him in FOREVER. Like, since the old Lazy Indians days...
So I made the plans to see them. I shared my new musical findings with Damien and he put me on a quest to acquire music from them (if it was available - which it WAS).
Upon my arrival to Drunken Unicorn, not only was Ryan on stage showcasing his amazing violin skills but 2 other old friends were on stage showcasing their musical talents as well: Andre (singing and playing guitar) and Bradley (singing and playing drums). Little did I know that this was Book of Colors.
I had not seen Bradley and Andre since the old Lazy Indians days as well, so it was good to see them - and all together on stage making sweet, beautiful music.
We ended up catching up at the Local that night and I have not stopped listening to their music.
I had the pleasure of seeing them again this past weekend at Niche during the Castleberry Hill ArtStroll on Friday and at Beep Beep Gallery on Saturday.
And on both those days, I ran into people I hadn't seen in a long time: Robert (Andre's brother) and his GF and Michelle (a very VERY old friend) were spotted at Niche and Natalia (Ryan's former bandmate Ethan's sister and old friend) and Melissa (an ex's sister) at Beep Beep. It was great! Seeing familiar faces is always nice - especially after so long!
So, Little Tybee and Book of Colors bring people together with their dreamy, sweet music. Make sure you catch them around Atlanta. They seem to be performing quite a lot - which is great in case you miss them one day.
And don't forget to check out Andre's art as well. Ever since I've known him, he's been creating art in some way, shape or form. You'll be glad you did.

So, if you find yourself looking to listen to some dreamy, melodic, meaningful music, Little Tybee and Book of Colors are exactly what you need.

Make Me A Supermodel: A Love Letter

I LOVE "reality" shows. More importantly, I ♥ "reality" shows when they're contests. Since Rock of Love Bus is over (Boo Taya! Ashley 4EVS!) and Top Chef ended quite some time ago, I've turned my full attention to Make Me a Supermodel.
I was all about Season 1 because of one Casey Skinner (a local!) and one Ronnie Kroell. Those boys were HOT. And I'm not talking about "Meh, they're dudes" hot. I'm talking about "Holy sweet Jesus they're fucking FIERCE" hot. Especially in their photos. I wonder if they've been signed to any agencies...They're both quite attractive men.
ANYWAYS - so, I was catching up on my MMASM yesterday and my boy Colin was in serious danger of going home. GASP! Not my Clark Kent! Not my Psychology and Neuroscience-studying, mild-mannered Colin! You know something deep, dark and mysterious is lurking under those glasses...even though he had the chance to let it shine in the 3-way challenge - which was incredible because he was dressed as a sailor (*GASP* Xs INFINITY) but he didn't really let it come out. That was the perfect time for him to make that life-altering decision: take off the glasses, rip the shirt off and reveal your "other personality". In his case, Superman. Superman is sexy, manly, mysterious, gets ALL the ladies and most of all, he's brave.
Now, I'm not saying Colin isn't brave, I'm just saying that I think that he'll bust out of his shell once he realizes that he's got the potential - like Tyson keeps telling him. And since he was in danger of being sent home, I think that might start the transformation process.

Comb-overs are awesome?

I was talking with Oni the other day about a photo I saw on Cobrasnake about the latest hair trend. I forgot about it (because comb-overs aren't really my thing) and then I saw this:


Now, I'm not really that familiar with Cassie BUT why would you shave your hair? Especially if it's that long? It's going to take FOREVER to grow back and it's not going to grow back pretty, either. Oh well.

I guess I'm feeling a little emotional over her hair since I'm trying to let mine grow out.
