Weekend Adventures!

I've got this song stuck in my head right now. Maybe this will take it out? lower case thank you These kinds of things are good to know Untitled Dear Alex... A family sentiment <3 Instructions! Moulin Rouge! Making Milagros because I wanna

1.  The chorus from "Back To You" by The Riverdales.  It was stuck in my head at the time // 2. A thank you to Mark, who taught an awesome Ride class at the office // 3. A message to the old man about dinner // 4. Something I need to do... // 5-7. I assembled a little care package for my brother in Canada! // 8.  My favorite quote from "Moulin Rouge!" trying a technique where I watered down the ink a little  // 9. This little milagro came out from another design but I'll write more about that later...

I got LOTS of calligraphy practicing done this weekend! Can you tell? :)  I even did some watercolor experimentation, too!  It was a really fun and very creative weekend for sure!  I sent out Marisa's Summer Swap package and a little care package from my brother!  I hope they like them!!

I took the old man, my dad and his lady to Indie Craft Experience, where I got the cutest shirt made right in front of me!!  It was great!

Inking Inking Thanks for the shirt @nooshstudios! In action! In action! T-Shirt Printing

Thanks to Chris Neuenschwander for having such cute designs and making it a really fun process to watch!  I haven't done block printing in FOREVER, so it was a thrill to watch my t-shirt be made using that process!  The only downside: it has to cutely hang to dry completely for a few days!  I don't want to wait that long to wear it!  It's so cute!!!  I get it, though...I know...I'm really impatient...BUT I'm pretty sure it will be ready for me to wear on the Fourth!

Do you guys have plans for the holiday?

Have a great week!

Incoming Mail + The Prettiest Handwriting + 3 Things

Yesterday was such a wonderful mail day! I know I usually post my "Incoming Mail" posts on Wednesdays but I've been getting to the post office a day later because of reasons so I've been a day behind.  I'm kinda glad, though, because I was able to take the time to take lovely photos of all the goodies that came in the mail this week!

This awesome pin-up postcard and collage (which is totally getting framed!) comes from Roberta all the way in Denmark!  I sent her some Creepy Hearts Club hearts and she sent this back as a thank you!  So sweet!  I've got a little something cooking for her, too!  :)

This sweet card (and super cute envelope) is from Rachel.  I told her about my 10 hour adventure in the car in January and shared in my pain.  And guess what?  She's also a video professional!  I love that!  I'm totally going to geek out in my next letter to her!  I hope she doesn't mind :)

This next package is from sweet Kathleen in Australia!  Last time, I sent her an origami heart and some other little things and she was sweet enough to send me some gorgeous origami papers from Japan!  Also tucked away in the cute card, there was a C.S. Lewis quote (which I can't wait to frame), 3 things about her and a Mail Tag with 3 prompts for me: A spritz of perfume (I know just the one!), my birthday, and the best thing about Georgia.  I found a cute little note card in my stockpile and filled out my 3 things already but I'm saving the perfume spray as the absolute last thing I do because I want it to last the whole trip to Oz!

I was so happy to see such a bounty in my P.O. Box yesterday and I realized I have two half assembled packages that need to be sent out!  Ugh - I've been such a space cadet lately.  One of them can be delayed a little but the other should've been sent out ages ago!  I'm hoping the recipient doesn't mind its tardiness!

I'm hoping you're having an awesome week!
Happy Thursday!

The Creepy Hearts Club is OFFICIAL!

Okay - I started a Tumblr for all the Creepy Hearts Club fun!  I just had to because I mailed out my first sets of hearts today and I had so much fun assembling everyone's packages that I had to share it!

If you want to join, email me your mailing address and I'll send you a cute little set of Creepy Hearts!  Post a photo of them to Tumblr and tag it with #creepyheartsclub and tag @creepyheartsclub to join in on the fun!  I'll repost all photos to the Tumblr.  And by the way - this will not be limited to Valentine's Day!  It'll be all year long!

Join the Creepy Hearts Club!

I think I'm going to start a "Creepy Hearts Club" tag on Instagram so that my pen pals can share and tag their photos of their "Creepy Hearts Club" hearts!  What do you think?  Wanna join?  I already have some requests!  I might even make a Tumblr for it...we'll see!

If you'd like to be part of the Creepy Hearts Club, email me your address: shelovesyoublog@gmail.com
Don't worry - I won't share your address with anyone else!

Happy Friday!

Let's Be Pen Pals!

I think you might have noticed that I added a little something to the right side of my little blog layout...
It's my P.O. Box address!  I'm having so much fun with sending and receiving mail that I thought maybe I should see if anyone wants to exchange mail with me!

I've also signed up for the Handmade Valentine Swap hosted by The Stationery Place.  (You still have time to sign up!)  I had so much fun with the Secret Pen Pal Scavenger Hunt that I had to do another one!

Speaking of, I received my parcel from my secret pen pal last night and I LOVE IT!!  I got so much fun stuff, I can't wait to show you on Reveal Day - Feb. 5th!  So great!!  I spent most of last night photographing my sweet little items for the reveal post (and starting a little thank you card to send back).  This is such a wonderfully refreshing creative boost!

I'm hoping this will turn into an on-going thing with the new friends I'm making through snail mail!  Won't you join me? :)

Happy Friday!

More NYFW Inspiration: Tavi Gevinson

In keeping with the NYFW inspiration, I saw the prettiest picture of Rookie Magazine's Tavi Gevinson posted on Rodarte's Instagram

I instantly fell in love with her rose crown/headband! I loved it so much I made one!
Rose headband
I bought some cheap roses with fake dew drops on them (on sale, son!) for my trial run and I really like the way it turned out!
Roses Rose headband

They remind me of some roses that Oni painted and put on ribbons for me years ago and I thought about doing that but I like the stability of the headband base - which I noticed when I made my Rodarte inspired foam stars.
Star headband

And even though I enjoy the stability of the headband for the roses, I think I'll move the stars to some ribbon.  They're not as angled as I had wanted them to be for the Rodarte piece.  I mean, the way they are now reminds me more of the Giant Dwarf piece - which is fine but I'll fix that this weekend.  Since the glitter foam turned out okay, I think I'll move on to using what I wanted to use instead: glitter vinyl.  I bought some wires to make the starbursts from the original look and I can't wait!  The purple stars were a huge hit at work!  Especially since I paired it with my black and silver Mondo Guerra sugar skull shirt!

The stars definitely helped pick up my mood as well.  I feel like I'm recovering pretty quickly but I'm still tired and my throat feels like there's a desert in there.  Not pleasant at all.

I think with this new inspiration and Lauren's new hairdo (which she revealed during the Project Runway All-Stars live-blog), I'll make her a custom hair accessory!  I also bought some cherry blossom sprigs to pin in my hair tomorrow to keep my mood up.  Maybe I'll keep the flower theme going and make hair pins for Heather (a co-worker)!  She has pretty, long blonde hair that I want to make pins for.  We'll see what kind of mood I'm in. I'm hoping to catch up on some rest so that I can be fully recovered by the time I'm off my medications.  Only a few more days!

EDITOR'S NOTE:
Here is a tutorial from Rookie Magazine on how to make various crown/headbands
