North Georgia Weekend

Tiny church Tiny church Wedding chapel Horses Buffalo Waterfall Babyland Babyland Babyland

This past weekend, the old man and I went up to Helen, GA and, unbeknownst to us, the Southern Wörthersee VW-Audi Car Show was going on.  I thought it would be a little exciting but it was a bit of a bust.  The weather was iffy and the atmosphere was...weird.  The one thing I wanted to go to - a crystal shop - was closed that day for a graduation ceremony.  Bummer.  We tried to make the most of it but we ended up walking around the whole town 3 or 4 times secretly hoping something fun would materialize but there was nothing.  I think because it was a dreary day and the town was full of loud cars, it made for a weird and not-so-fun trip, unfortunately.
I wanted to go gem mining at one of the few roadside gem mining places up there but we kept forgetting to get cash while in Helen because the ATMs are cleverly disguised with little Alpine accents and we kept missing them.  I used up most of my cash getting coffee beans, paying for parking and on a single Bratwurst that was way too overpriced for what it was.
The old man took me by this pretty tiny church on the way in to Helen, which was a great sight because it was opposite the Nacoochee Burial Mound - that I didn't photograph.  Oops!  Here are some photos.
I managed to divert us towards the Cabbage Patch Kids Babyland attraction on the way back since I hadn't been since I was a kid and we never go that far north for anything so I made it a YOLO moment and we took a slight detour.  We didn't go in, we just did a little drive by...
All in all, it was an alright trip up to North Georgia, I guess.  Maybe next time will be better?
Because of this, I've decided that I need to order the Weird Georgia book to see what kinds of neat things are nearby!  Until then, I'll just keep checking this map for fun stuff to do...

Weird Dream: Did this cartoon movie really exist?

So, I just woke up from a dream that I feel like contains something very real in it.  Let me ramble about it for a second...

When I first moved to Georgia, I met this girl who would be my best friend up until high school.  In the time we were friends, I would be at her house constantly and sometimes she would make me watch weird, obscure movies.  Some of them would be cartoons, others would be live-action.

In my dream, I was at her childhood house by myself watching TV when  trailer for a movie started playing.  It had all the elements of one of my friends' weird cartoon movies she used to make us watch when we were kids but this was a live-action version starring Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzman.
The movie is about a girl (Dunst) who gets kicked out of her house (for whatever reason) and while she's stumbling along her neighborhood, a flying cuckoo clock-style house floats down to her.  She goes inside and sees it's just a one room house.  Once inside, the house closes the door and flies off.  Dunst tries to escape but the house won't let her open the door while in the air.  Dunst peers through the one window the house has and sees her town float under her as she flies far away from it.
The house eventually lands and Dunst goes out to explore.  When she comes back, the house has made her a present: a dress made from found sweaters.  Surprisingly, this doesn't phase Dunst, she enjoys it.  When she opens the door to go exploring, the house has made her another present: a wreath made from found objects like plastic bags, discarded tinsel, hay and pine straw.  She affectionately hangs it on the door and goes exploring, where she runs into Schwartzman.
She talks about her floating house but he doesn't exactly believe her until she takes him to it.  Inside, the house starts to reject Schwartzman by spitting him out once he crosses the threshold.

This was a very bizarre dream but it sounds like something that might have existed for real.  I feel like it was one of my friends' weird, obscure movies that she used to make us watch but I remember not liking this one.  I want to say it was called "Quadiliacha" because I woke up saying that word but I don't think that's it.  I can't find anything about Quadiliacha that isn't band-related.  And Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzman don't have any recent overlapping projects listed on IMDB.  I'm really bothered by this because I feel like it was real and I woke up thinking, "My friend would freaking love it if that movie was live-action" because we wore out the VHS of the cartoon version but I can't, for the life of me, remember what it was!!!

Does anybody know what I'm talking about?  If I can get them to look right, I will try to draw pictures and add them later.

Thank you!
Happy Sunday!

Wednesday Gif Party!

I'm back on track, baby!

I'll start it off with some Twilight awkwardness for you...

Been watching a lot of Supernatural while I've been sick and it has been GREAT! Now...if I could just catch up to Season 9...

See the gif set here!

I was watching something about the dinosaurs the other day and this feels appropriate

So does this...

Check out these classic movies lines that have been updated for the "Digital Age". It was hard to choose a favorite but this one is pretty up there!

See the gif set here

Here's Traci Lords from Cry-Baby giving me major hair, make-up AND wardrobe envy right now!

Because this is what we're all thinking when we see this, right?

And because I enjoy this so much, I'll share this with you!

And then...there's THIS

Happy Wednesday!

I secretly like to live in trashy romance novels

I've been resisting it for so long and I finally gave into it last week: I've started reading the 50 Shades of Grey books.  I am only slightly ashamed.  Partly because I knew it was coming.  I was going to end up reading them sooner or later AND an innocent Tweet from Michelle Visage intrigued me. Hmmm...Alexander Skarsgard as Christian Grey?  I knew then that I HAD to know who this guy was if Skarsgard was being considered.

He's so alluring and so charming as Eric Northman on True Blood (and he's almost always half naked).  So I downloaded it straight to my iPad when I got home from work...AND I COULDN'T STOP READING.
Sure the writing is weird (I've read the Twilight books so I'm immune to weird writing - including my own) and the characters are a little wild but this isn't my first time at the BDSM literature rodeo, okay?  I've read quite a few BDSM books in my day (the fave being the Claiming of Sleeping Beauty Trilogy because I love Princess Aurora so much) so these books are quite tame in my honest opinion.  Sure there's spanking and light torture, bondage and all that but it's not quite there yet.  But for some reason, I'm captivated by Christian Grey.  And picturing Alexander Skarsgard as the unbelievably young multibillionaire is making it harder to hate the book - and what they're doing to me.
I'm totally swept off my feet again and again by Christian Grey and I fear that I am, childishly, wishing every man was like him.  Ugh.  It's embarrassing - but not as embarrassing as my little encounter last night, which my brother dubbed 50 Subs of Way.  Yes, it happened in a Subway while I was waiting on my sandwich and it was the weirdest, most confusing and most exciting thing that's happened to me in a long while.  UH - WTF?!  WHO AM I?!
Maybe it's because my sleep schedule is thrown off and my overactive imagination is getting the better of me (as usual) but I rather enjoy these games even though they're very confusing and I have no idea what they are.  He was just some random guy walking in for a sandwich.  Nothing out of the ordinary but I could feel something in the air that was . . . charged or something.  Not like the charge between Ana and Christian but there was something there that wasn't there before he entered the sandwich shop.  Ugh.
I keep telling myself there's no such man as Christian Grey. Shit - there's no such man as Brandon (who isn't really romantic but...) or my other favourite Christian.

What is happening to me?!

More photo shenanigans

This woman was big bumpin' at the Resurgens Orthopaedics office when I was getting my knee checked out
The higher the hair...

I felt like this was a good witch house album cover (maybe not)
Capes / Drapes / Gowns

I had some spare hearts leftover after I made Cassie's card so I made my old man a banner for when he came back!
Welcome home!
PS - he loved it!

I got this cute lil macaroon at Whole Foods on our way to Athens

I kept imagining a front yard production of Phantom of the Opera happening at some point this weekend...
Looks like our neighbors are rehearsing for their front yard production of "Phantom of the Opera"
I hope they dry it off - it was rained on all weekend!

While I was in the longest line I've seen at Chipotle in a long time, there was this woman who held us all up by not only stopping her order to talk to the teenage umpire (pictured below) about some scary parents she had to call the cops on at some game they were all at but she also had, like, a billion orders she needed from the Chipotle crew. First world problems I know, but damn she was rude!
WPP about some weird parents VS teen refs at little league games SMH

I wouldn't have been so upset if she hadn't been so rude. Ugh. And the kid she was talking to was funny because he rolled his eyes every time she turned her back but he put on this cute, All-American smile when she faced him. Nicely done kid!

I saw that yesterday on my way home from work. In case you can't really tell, the Sylvester toy is dressed in a devil costume. Um...WHAT???  Yeah, I was definitely caught off guard with that one...
I hope I get some really interesting things this weekend.  Honestly, I don't think it can get any more random than this though!

Project Runway All-Stars: When I Get My Dress In Lights - The Recap

I am confident in saying that this might possibly be the weirdest challenge in Project Runway history.  Lights?!  Really?  Wowzers.  While it was crazy cool, it was mostly CRAZY.  Of course Pharrell would have the craziest challenge!  And that's why I love him.

Jerell made the tackiest thing yet with this weird-ass raver dress.  **Just so you know, they're ALL raver outfits to me**

The glasses are FUG. The fiber optics in the hair is totally FUG. The Grandma skirt is super FUG and the peplum thing is...well, FUG.  I don't think any self-respecting raver would actually wear this!  The sunglasses mayyybe but this is terrible.  And I'm glad to see you go Jerell.  GURL BYE

Mondo made this cute little traffic cone bra thing although he was struggling a bit this week - which is a little unfortunate because this could've been a Mondo challenge. Either way, it was cute.

I like the face cage he has over the eyes and I'm glad the judges recognized the fact that his look was a completed look from head to toe.  It seems like Mondo is the only one to think these things all the way through.  Hearts for Mondo!

Not gonna lie - I liked Kenley's neon tape plaid she made.  That's right - I'm enjoying a Kenley Collins design but let me clarify: I like the plaid pattern.  The silhouette is still very Kenley (tisk tisk) but with kimono sleeves.  Clever, Kenley, very clever.

Pharrell was showering her with compliments and I thought I was going to have to jump through the TV and snatch her face off. I'm the only one for Pharrell!! I kid, I kid...

Austin's looked like he took some lights and threw them on his shell of a dress.  While the dress was pretty, I think it would've worked better if he had really thought about it a bit more.

It was a pretty dress, really.  I got the whole stars and heavens thing but it didn't have to look like he made a dress and then stuck lights on it.  And I should've known he was going to win when they showed him on the phone with his too-young-to-be-his-mom Mom.  She told him her house went into foreclosure and there is the possibility that she might be losing it.  Very sad :(  I'm sure everything is worked out by now and I hope she's doing better.

If you want to see Michael C's dress, imagine TMNT's Shredder, Mortal Kombat's Scorpion and the Bumble Bee girl from the Blind Melon video.

This was like the ULTIMATE raver outfit and honestly, I could see that at the club.  He was dangerously close to getting auf'd but I don't think they were really going to auf him when you compare this to Jerell's.  I mean come on.

I liked Pharrell as a judge!

He had some great comments to give.  Speaking of comments, Kors would've been proud to hear what these kiddos were saying.  You know he popped over to check it out!  He had to with this challenge!  I would've LOVED to see what Joshua and Christian would've done with this challenge!  Holy mother!  That would've been hilarious!

The preview for next week didn't really give us much but I'm hoping it's another silly challenge.  They've all been pretty silly since the U.N. challenge...And can I just say that they were being a little too nice to Jerell on After The Runway?  Like, they were tip-toeing around the fact that his designs are tacky - except for when Joanna did the "Hideous or Fabulous" thing.  She told that bitch his shit was ALL hideous!  That's right, girl!  Stick it to him!

ANYWAYS - I hope to see you all next week for the live-blog!  I'm going to find my pacifier, get a Vicks massage and RAVE OUT
