More *SMASH-ventures!

So...here are a few items I've added to my *SMASH Book...

After an intense dentist appointment a while back, I bought the extreme BluRay edition of The Great Gatsby (like I said I would) and wrote all day long while watching all of the behind the scenes stuff.  One thing I didn't do: watch the ending.  I was crying all day between the story, costumes, soundtrack and my writing materials.  Oh, and the jaw pain I was experiencing.  So why not put it in the book?!



Season 5 of Sons of Anarchy started with a bang.  *SPOILERS*  Why Opie?!  He was destined for greatness!  But he was also on a slippery slope as well...it was a sad moment when we saw him *SPOILERS* getting his head bashed in.  It made me sad.  I loved Opie!  Ryan Hurst did such a great job with the character!  And the worst part was that Opie reminded me so much of Nate that it was kind of comforting to be able to watch Opie on-screen but once he was buried, it made me miss my friend even more.



On a happier note, season 8 DVDs for Supernatural have finally entered our disc queue and I'm so happy I can't stand it!  I know season 9 is starting or has started already and I don't think we'll catch up in time but I don't care!  I'm just glad these kids are back on my TV screen!!!



As far as the rest of the pages go, I'm actually trying to take it easy on some things and not do the daily journaling thing as much because I'm already into the August pages (already?!) which is good but I still have to make it through the end of the year with this book before I start another, right?!  Well, there are no rules in *SMASH Book-ing but...

Fave Photo of You Photo Post

Today's February Photo-A-Day Challenge is a funny one.  The topic: Favourite photo of you.
I might have to do a few posts because I have so many!  Here's the first one I posted earlier:



So many great memories here! 
The first one is me with Grant Wilson of The Smugglers (and my friend Jimmy in the background).  They opened up for The Donnas in 2000 and had a dance contest.  I won with the help of my friends and I got a sweet hockey trophy!  That night was awesome but it ended terribly.  Jimmy's car got stolen (this was before East Atlanta was what it is now) and we had to wait for my Mom to pick us up.  Embarrassing.  But the guys at Echo Lounge gave Jimmy an Iron Maiden box set (I think) and I emailed with Danny Panic for awhile.  I wonder if he remembers...

Under that photo is a photo of Carter and me at one (of many) Lazy Indians shows at (old) Lenny's.  His sister took the photo and, yes, that's how it's framed.  See more photos from other Lazy Indians shows here

Under that is a photo of me with my old man and my best friend Damien outside our cabin in Tennessee.  We were ungodly late to another friends' wedding and I was *still* hungover from Halloween the night before...Good times!

The Chainsaw photo is one of my favourites because I'm holding an actual chainsaw and I'm wearing my friends' fireman clothes.  They smelled like smoke and burnt trees.  After the shoot, I got to keep the clothes.  They don't smell like burning anymore but they always remind me of this!  Billy did the tattoo letters on my stomach.  I thought I had wanted to get that tattooed on me at some point but good thing I didn't actually do it because I've kinda sorta grown out of my Nurse Chainsaw persona.  Kinda sorta not really...

The bottom photo is my ultimate favourite because that's me with Aubrey Graham (aka Drake) and Mike Lobel from Degrassi: The Next Generation.  They were doing a series of mall tours with the cast of Degrassi and Alpharetta just so happened to get Aubrey and Mike!  Lucky me!  I'll never forget that signing because Aubrey asked me about my "Duck Plucker" shirt.  I jokingly said it was a clothing line my friend and I were coming up with and he said, "That's cool.  I'm about put out some music".  I thought it was a nice thing until he said, "Yeah, I'm a rapper".  Jimmy?  Wheelchair Jimmy?  A rapper?  Nah...

Hopefully I'll be able to find the rest to make another collage!

Sunday Funday: Decorating Woes

My old man and I have been together a long time.  Like, a really REALLY long time and one thing we haven't really done is settle anywhere.
By "settle" I mean decorate.  With the assistance of my Dad, we've been homeowners for a few years now and we still haven't settled in.  I've got photos in frames, he's got artwork printed and I keep buying Missoni for Target house-related items (I can't help myself).  Okay, not just Missoni stuff but I do keep buying housewares.  Whether it's a shower curtain (*cough*Missoni*cough*) or a Klimt print from Ikea or random blind box items from Kidrobot, we have a lot of stuff but it's not any where in the house - except just taking up space.
While I was visiting with my Mom, we watched a few HGTV decorating shows which got me thinking about how we need to do stuff with our stuff.  Then I remembered those really awesome Jonathan Adler pillows that I lusted after forever but never got...


What if I could design my own set of silhouettes and combination freezer paper stencil plus screen print them on these boring ass Ikea curtains we got forever ago?  Hmmm...
I tired to explain it to the old man but he wasn't getting it.  I Googled different items (which probably made me look like a monster) and got to Photoshoppin'.  The old man still didn't see it.  Ugh.  I told him I'd print it out at a larger scale to see it big picture and to see if he'd like it.

I printed it this morning and BAM - sweet ass art piece!

Personally, I think that might be a little too much for the curtains BUT I think I can frame this and it would make a nice art piece for the space!

I have to admit - I was pretty inspired from walking around Castleberry Hill during Flux on Friday night so this weekend was a great motivator to finally get our house organized and decorated.

Now if we could only stop arguing over everything, I think we'd be fine.  Aaaahhh...the joys of relationships and homeownership.  Gotta love it
