THE FINAL SEASON OF LOST!!

The old man and I were tired of waiting for Netflix to send us the final season so we ended up borrowing it from the library. It was like, we'd go the mailbox and get every other movie/show DVD from our queue EXCEPT for LOST and it got to the point where we had waited long enough. There was too large a gap between Season 5 and 6.
When we started watching it, we were only slightly lost (zing!) but we got back on track fairly quickly. I particularly like how Ricardo is all, "We're in Hell! We're already dead!" - which makes Ab Aeterno one of my favourite episodes so far. I've been waiting forever to figure out Ricardo's story since he's immortal and all. And of course his story would involve a woman. BUT - if his wife died and he was so desperate to be with her, why did he want to live forever? Wouldn't he want to die so he could be with his wife in the afterlife/spirit realm?
I'm a little concerned about Sideways World too. I mean, WTF? I'm glad my faves (Boone, Charlie) have come back - in a way - but what's up with that? Is it what could have been? Is it what was supposed to happen without Jacob interfereing? Is it what was supposed to happen instead of crashing (and dying) on the island?!
My fave part about Bizarro World - James as a hot cop. Meeeeeooowww. Too bad Charlotte was there. Can you tell I don't like her? Meh. At least she's less annoying than Juliet. But I'm also wondering - is Faraday coming back? One can only hope...
We're only 9 episodes in and I know it's only going to get weirder. Good thing I've already seen the finale! And The Final Journey (where they pretty much admitted they were making it up as they went along). I'm just waiting for the pieces to fall together and right now, I'm agreeing with Ricardo - they're dead and they're in Hell. I'm preeettty sure that's what it is.

Re-Watching LOST: Season 5

I'm a bad re-capper. A bad, bad re-capper. Why? We fucking FINISHED season 5. Finished it. And how does it end? Pretty much like season 2: WHITE LIGHT. Also, I really like how Jacob visited the kids at certain points in their lives:

• Kate - when she stole (the first time perhaps?)
  
• Sawyer - at his parents' funeral (Jacob gives him the pen to write Mr. Sawyer THE letter)
  
• Sayid - when him and Nadia finally got reunited and Jacob caused her to get HIT BY A CAR
• Ilana - after being beat up? (I don't really know who she is...)
• Locke - AFTER he's thrown out the window by his shitty father
• Jin & Sun - at their fucking wedding (twofer)
• Jack - after his first surgery (count to 5 and try again) at the vending machine
• Hurley - after he gets out of prison

So...there you have it. We see them time travel back to the mid-70's. We also see that John Locke - I mean Jeremy Bentham - is dead. But on the island, he's alive? But his dead body is dead? Yeah. I know why but my old man doesn't. So now, we wait. We wait for the damn DVDs to come out. It's bothering me because I just want to get it over with since we were able to knock them out fairly quickly.
Until then, we've been occupying our time with our Netflix intstant queue. What's in it, you ask? Californication, Skins, Spartacus: Blood and Sand and many, many more. It's pretty much the most awesomest thing we've done. And we've already queued up LOST SEASON 6. Damn right. Until then, here's some videos:

Re-Watching LOST: Season 4 - The Other Woman

We were only able to watch one episode last night as well. *frowny face* It happened to be a very Juliet-heavy episode too.

I still don't like her. Why? Because she's an "Other". Why would guys fawn over her? Is it because she's too trusting but she's tough enough to be driven to do whatever it takes to see her sister again? Does Ben like her because she's "fresh meat" on the island? I know Harper said, "You look just like her" but didn't elaborate at all as to who Juliet looks just like. Is it her doe eyes? Whatever it is, there's something about that weird side smile thing that makes me uncomfortable. I mean, Locke's crazy dictatorship of the barracks isn't half as creepy as Juliet. But it is disappointing.

Lowlights:

• Of course Juliet has an affair with Goodwin (Harper's husband) and Ben knows this and sends Goodwin to the slaughter as a fake castaway to the tail-end folks. All those "Tail-End" mo-fos weren't on the magical list.
• Of course Ben would make a ridiculous statement concerning the ownership of Juliet: "You're mine!"
• Jack and Juliet. Barf-o-rama.
• Pretty much the whole episode. Sorry. It just didn't do a thing for me.

Highlights: (yes, there were some)

• Girlfight! (between Juliet and equally annoying Charlotte)
• Daniel Faraday saves the day?

Up next: Ji Yeon. Like I said before, I already know who that is because I saw the series finale. Sooooo...all the mystery is gone there. When will the mystery come back? Hopefully with Michael (!) during Meet Kevin Johnson. We'll see.

Re-Watching LOST: If anything goes wrong...

ZOMG! I know now what it means!
It's all coming together! Gaaaahhhhhh!!!

Just kidding. It's still the same - with the addition of knowing what it means.
It's not Avatar's equivalent of "I see you". But it could be. Either way, Desmond and Penny are so cute they make me barf in the way Charlie and Claire never could. (Charlie and Claire just made me cry a lot)
So...the great big mystery of "_________ is my constant" is solved. Onto the bigger and weirder mysteries Lost holds for me.

Next up: The Other Woman. Oh yay, it's Juliet-heavy episode. Joy...
Unfortunately we only had time for one episode last night instead of our usual 2 (or sometimes 3). Hopefully today we'll get through The Other Woman and Ji Yeon (I already know who Ji Yeon is because I watch the series finale!)

I have to admit that sometimes knowing the ending is fun and sometimes it's not. It's fun in certain instances because I'm able to guess certain things and it does close up some holes. It's not fun because I'm not in deep, deep suspense over certain things like my old man is. But don't get me wrong - I am most certainly enjoying watching the show from start to finish in a few months. That part is awesome!!

PS - Just found out that Elizabeth Mitchell (aka Juliet Burke), Matthew Fox, Jack Bender (for Outstanding Directing), Outstanding Art Direction, Music, MOTHERFUCKING Terry O'Quinn for Outstanding Supporting Actor (!!!), Outstanding Drama, Special Class Programs: "ABC's LOST Presents: Mysteries of the Universe - the Dharma Initiative", Sound Editing, Writing, Editing...the list goes on (I'm sure). Congrats LOST Team!

Re-Watching LOST: Season 4

We started season 4 last night and according to the season cheat sheet at Lostpedia, this season is only 14 episodes long. Lame and awesome at the same time.
Lame because it's so short and awesome because it's so short. We'll be able to get through it in a faster amount of time and get to season 5! Why season 5? Because I accidentally read a spoiler (!!!!) concerning the name Jeremy Bentham - which was the name on the newspaper clipping LumberJack was carrying around with him in the final episode of season 3 in a flash forward. Where does the link to the name Jeremy Bentham take you? Oh that's right...to LOCKE'S page! Yeah, that makes a lot of sense seeing as though I don't know who he is yet!!!!
Oh well. I didn't read too far about Locke going under that name except...well...I guess I'll find out later.
We made it to Eggtown (episode 4) and there are a lot of crazy flash forwards happening.

Lowlights:

• The guy who plays Daniel Faraday (Jeremy Davies) always seems to play that "kooky" character. I have mixed feelings about him...
• I still don't trust Jack. Sorry, I just don't.
• SAYID'S fingernails!!!! In the flash forward during The Economist, Sayid straightened out his curly locks (meeeowww!!!), wore something other than his trademark wife beater, was still a killing machine and kept saying he was one of the Oceanic 6. But what was one the of the main things he didn't do? Oh, that's right...cut his fucking nails! Aaaaaanyways....
• Miles is annoying as FUCK but he's a ghostbuster (perhaps?)
• Kate and Aaron in the flash forwards. WTF???? BABY STEALER!

Highlights:

• This isn't really a highlight but it was definitely moving: When Hugo told Claire about Charlie and when he made it a point to remind everyone that Charlie died so they could get some kind of communication off the island.
• Daniel Faraday being kooky
  
• Miles is a ghostbuster!
• The team from the freighter is on the hunt for Ben (getting closer to some answers!!)
• LANCE REDDICK!!!! (Also known as Philip Broyles from my other favourite show, Fringe)
• Charlie slapping Hugo at the mental hospital (this was kind of adorbs)
  

And that's about it. It's still early enough in the season to not really have a lot of highs/lows. There are many questions (of course) and I'm eagerly awaiting for The Constant (which I'm pretty sure we'll watch tonight because it's episode 5). I accidentally saw a spoiler photo from this episode and I've been hearing people say "I'm your constant" or "You're my constant" since this season aired. I'm guessing it's the equivalent to Avatar's "I see you", I suppose. Either way, it's a fucking catch phrase and I want to know why.




EDIT: Apparently, the whole Constant thing involves Desmond (and Penny probably)

Re-Watching LOST: Not Penny's Boat!

Those were (technically) Charlie's last words. What led up to that? Desmond's visions!
Wait - what? Of course Desmond has visions of the future (ever since the hatch collapsed in a bright light of electromagnetic energy). And all of his visions include what? Charlie dying, of course. It all makes sense, doesn't it...
Doesn't it?

I have to admit, Season 3 was losing me (with the writer's strike and all) but it started pulling me back in at around Episode 10: Tricia Tanaka is Dead. Hurley's pick-me-up storyline of jumpstarting Roger (guess who this is!!!!) Work Man's car was pretty awesome. Sawyer drinking the old as fuck beer that had been in the car for ages, not so much. *BARF*

More highlights:

• My two most favourite < / sarcasm > people died! And it was probably the best death, I thought. Nikki and Paolo (aka Bizarro Boone and Shannon amirite?!) were terrible. Blah blah blah, (terrible) acting, BILLY DEE WILLIAMS, spiders (who didn't see that coming, ARZT), diamonds aaaaaaaand being BURIED ALIVE! Yes!!! Goodbye, Bizarro Boone and Shannon! (Or should it be goodbye? It is J.J. Abrams, afterall...)
• Juliet was a little obvious. My old man didn't see it right away because, like a fool, he trusts Jack. I, on the other hand, trust Sayid. Sayid forever!!! One request for Sayid: Cut your damn nails, please.
• Naomi. Satellite phone. Not who she says she is (of course not...)
  
• We learned about Ben's REAL entry to the island. Spoiler Alert (but not really): He wasn't born on the island! *gasp* How unsurprising. Sorry guys, it was kind of easy to tell.
• FUN FACT: In Episode 20: The Man Behind the Curtain Ben's mom is played by Carrie Preston, Michael Emerson (Ben)'s IRL wife. (She also plays Arlene on True Blood).
• LumberJack (get it?!) in the season ender. "We have to get back!" <--mindfuck
• Possible Sideways World
• JACOB - the man, the myth. We have our theories. My old man thinks it's Locke. I think it's the Smoke Monster...
• Who's fucking funeral did Jack go to????
  

Episode 21: Greatest Hits had me crying like a baby. Remember, I had only seen Seasons 1 and 2 while they were actually airing on TV. Everything else (except the series finale) is new to me. Sooooo...Desmond telling Charlie that he HAD TO DIE in order for them to get rescued started the cry-fest. It all culminated in Charlie knocking Desmond out in the outrigger at the Looking Glass station. Charlie had written his top 5 "greatest hits" (I GET IT!!!!) of his memories and the number one? "The night I met you". I was crying so hard, my old man kept looking at me like I was crazy. I told him I knew Charlie wasn't going to die in this episode because the final 2 episodes left were called Through the Looking Glass: Part 1 and Through the Looking Glass: Part 2 but the fact that Charlie knew he had to die was what was making me a blubbering idiot.

Anyways...can't wait till the old man comes home with Season 4. Then we get to travel to Sideways World (I'm guessing), see what Charlie really died for and all the other fun stuff in between.

Re-Watching LOST: Season 3

Season 3 so far:
In the last post, I expressed my love for Locke's vision quest (involving sweet, sweet Boone), jears and Ben's creepiness. Ben is still creepy as hell, the jears haven't stopped and no more Boone - this time, it was Mr. Eko who had the vision quest (which was also pretty bad ass).
I'm upset because when Sawyer and Kate were leaving the island, with the help of "some girl" named Alex, I blurted out "Haven't they figured out that she is Rousseau's daughter?!" and my old man turns to me and says, "Holy shit, I didn't even put two and two together". Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?!!! Come on! It's so obvious. Just like it was obvs that Ben was dying and that Kate and Sawyer were gonna get it on (AKA: CAGE RAGE!!!!)
Anyways - I still can't put my finger on why I can't stand Juliet. There's something about her that irritates me. Even after I got to know her flashback story, she still bothers me...
We were only able to get to episode 8 (Flashes Before Your Eyes) which happens to be when the time traveling / jumping begins (so it seems). And we also learn that Charlie is supposed to die. No!!! I like making Mordor jokes when he's around! And who's gonna help Claire raise Aaron (besides Desmond, who was giving her the eye but probs because he's weird).
So far I'm not dazzled by season 3, which is sad to admit but I'm sure it will get better. I know it will, dammit!

Re-Watching "LOST" Recap: Seasons 1 and 2

Guess what? Remember when the Lost finale happened and it was all "An end to an era" or whatever and I said that me and my old man wanted to start rewatching the entire series?
WE STARTED OVER
And we're on Season 3 already. Say what?! I know, I know, I should've been bloggin' it but I've been all wrapped up in it! Personally, I think this is the best way to watch any show (Dexter, True Blood, Big Love and all the other shows on channels I don't have).

Rewatching Season 1 went pretty much like this:

• Hey, I remember when they did that
• The next episode will be about such and such
• Oh yeah, remember the season ending like this?

Boom. Done. More like: Boone, done. Wokka wokka. (Still sad that he was a "sacrifice that the island demanded" per Locke).

Season 2 went pretty much like this:

• Oh yeah, I remember this one but I don't think I watched the next one.
• This was the one where I couldn't watch the season finale at work and you called me to tell me it was a doozy and when I asked you to tell me the ending, you wouldn't because it was crazy so I waited until 7:30am when it was posted to abc.com to watch the last 15 minutes and there was a white light and Jack, Kate and Sawyer were tied up and the whole island shook. Remember? <-- TRUE STORY
  

How we got to Season 3 pretty much went like this:
Sunday I woke up early after the super awesome OMFG party the night before (be on the lookout for photos!!!). I had only had 5 hours of sleep and I wasn't interested in watching Rome (yet another show I'm catching up on). So my old man suggests we watch a few episodes of season 2 till it got cool enough for him to mow the lawn. After every episode, he check the temperature on his iPod touch (NOTE: NOT a reliable weather predictor but it worked out perfectly for us). The temp was steady at 95˚F. "Wanna watch another one?" "Sure!" Temp check. 95˚. Another episode. 95˚. Another and another and another until it was 7:30pm. Made dinner, watched another one. Watched some more until about 11:30pm. We only had 3 episodes left till the end of season 2 at the end of Sunday. I think it was about 8+ straight hours of Lost. We finished out season 2 on Monday and my old man brought home season 3 yesterday and we were able to squeeze in the first 3 episodes. I'm pretty sure we're both in a blind spot now because I think we both dropped our love affair with Lost at the end of season 2 with the white light magnetic field thing. But I have the ultimate advantage: I've seen the series finale, so I know about Juliet (who annoys me for some reason) and various little things that my old man doesn't know. I gave away Ben when he got captured in season 2 (under the name of Henry Gale) because I blurted out, "Hey! They captured Ben!" My old man gave me the side eye, "Who the fuck is Ben?" Oops.

Highlights of Season 3 so far:

• Locke's vision quest with Boone as his spirit guide (BONUS Boone!) - Ep 3
• Jears within the first episode. I should've bet my old man because he didn't think Jack would cry. WRONG. Jack always cries.
• Ben is still creepy.

So - maybe I'll keep better track of my Lost adventure. It's actually quite fun.

"The Others" + "The Sixth Sense" + J.J. Abrams = "LOST" series finale

Last night, Lost ended in a 2 1/2 hour journey through a typical Lost episode: WTF.
There was crying (not by me, though)
There was confusion (definitely by me)
And there were laughs

Here's a backstory about me and Lost:
In 2004, my old man kept telling me about this show about an island. At the time, my TV watching was limited to what my co-workers wanted to watch when I used to work nights at a home shopping channel. Needless to say, I didn't know what the fuck Lost was. Then it happened. I suffered a horrible bout with the flu. I was on quarantined lock down (by decree of my old man) and exiled to the couch. But my old man felt sorry for me and brought me the first season of Lost to keep me company while I fought off the flu.
At first, I was really confused. I had a high fever and the whole first season felt like a fever dream. Polar bears. On a tropical island? A plane crash with a preggers chick? That dude from Lord of the Rings as a drug addict? That guy from Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet with a kid and a dog (that liked to run away). Okay, okay. It makes sense. I'm an X Files fan. There's something more to it than this. Cool. I can dig it.
Then, I tried watching season 2. At first, I was a little upset because there hadn't been a casualty at all and then they kill off the hottest guy on the damn show at the end of season 1 and I didn't want to give it another try but I did. Enter the "lost" Lost jokes. I was lost trying to watch Lost. (And those jokes never ended, btw).
My old man and I have been talking about getting all the seasons up till now (this was said at the start of the final season), catching up and getting wrapped up in the finale. But that didn't happen. We didn't really have a strong desire to get all caught up with Lost. Especially not after our new favourite show started airing: Fringe (also the brainchild of J.J. Abrams). So, what were we to do?
Of course we didn't watch any part of Lost leading up to the series finale but I couldn't help myself. Fox was showing Something Something Something Dark Side by Family Guy and I'd already seen it too many times so, I flipped on over to ABC and couldn't stop.
Who were these new people? Who was Ben Linus? Who was Desmond? Who the fuck was Juliet? Where was Michael and Walt and their damn dog? The flashbacks didn't phase me either - since that's what the show was based around anyway. But what struck me as odd was the double flashbacks. After about the third one, that's when I knew what was wrong with everyone. That's when I knew they were all dead. And M. Fox trying to avoid having flashbacks made it even more obvious.
But why 2 1/2 hours? I guess it would have made more sense if I had followed the show from beginning to end but even the internet crowd was divided. Half the people I follow on Tumblr (my safe place to "live blog" shows), were just as confused - which leads me to the same conclusion: it would make way more sense if I had kept up (I hope).
Okay, okay. Snowglobe theory: sort of correct. The Others theory: Check. Sixth Sense: Check. I've seen enough horror and suspense movies to see that coming a mile away (which kinda sucks because a lot of plots have been ruined because of that [see Community's season finale with Jeff and Annie]) but it makes me wonder about my other J.J. Abrams love: Fringe.
We know there's an alternate universe on Fringe. And we know that BizarrOlivia and regular Olivia switched places at the end of this season. Snowglobe theory again? Possibly. But both worlds are aware of each other. Well, at least both Fringe Divisions anyway. So...where could this go?
J.J. Abrams is a creative, sci-fi reimaginer. If anyone could take it beyond our realm of understanding and open our minds to even more possiblities, Abrams can. I'm ready for the mindfuck that is Fringe to get bigger, better and more other worldly.
