Weekend Adventures

For my Gratitude Journaling, I'm trying something new. I got insanely inspired by Michelle's Get Messy posts so I decided to try and illustrate items that represent some the things I was grateful for that day - starting with Friday.  I didn't want to make them too text-heavy but I did fill out Saturday and Sunday with some text after I took the photos to explain, you know, things like why I illustrated a 1.75 liter bottle of Grand Marnier* and why there's a random Ron del Barrilito bottle** just kinda hanging out on Saturday's page...
I'm having fun with the illustrations but I don't think I'll be able to keep it up much longer.  Things are about to get pretty hectic around here!

How was your weekend?

*The Grand Marnier was a Thank You present from Lauren's parents.  As one of my Maid of Honor duties, I did the envelope calligraphy for the invitations.  It was so much fun! :)

**My aunt is in town from Puerto Rico and we sipped on some Barrilito Saturday night.  Yay bonding! :)

Good bye 2012, Hello 2013!

Sadly, my 366 project is over!  Can you believe it?!  2012 - GONE!  Well, almost...
I know I had all these grand ideas for my 366 project and even though I didn't do a "Theme Week" or whatever else I had set out to do, my photos have proven that the Photo-A-Day thing can be fun!  It's also my equivalent to a Gratitude Jar.
What's that, you ask?  I've been seeing some posts on Tumblr and Pinterest about making a Gratitude Jar on January 1st.  Basically, you write one nice thing that happened to you everyday (or for that month) and then on December 31st, you read them all and express your gratitude for such a wonderful year.  Not bad.  I thought about how nice that would be and then I realized that my 366 project was already doing that for me!
So to honour that, I'll post my 5 favorite photo(s) from each month from my 366 photos.  This might be a tough one...

Photos after the jump!

The Transit of Venus

I started writing this really emo post yesterday and I deleted it because why would I be all sad panda about life when beautiful things like this happen?

SDO's Ultra-high Definition View of 2012 Venus Transit -- Path Sequence

I wasn't able to catch this in my neck of the woods but it definitely snapped me out of my bad mood. Probably because Venus is my ruling planet and crossing over the Sun probably re-energized my spiritual self - which I am very grateful for.
But it's not only that that I was enjoying. Look at how gorgeous space it. The Sun is so gorgeous.  And the majesty of seeing these wonderful images from NASA is just so amazing to me and I am even more grateful for everything around me.  Sure, things might get me down from time to time but I always try to remember never to sweat the small stuff.  Life is far more precious than we care to acknowledge on a daily basis and I'd just like to take this moment to appreciate life and all of the things around me because it's all special and wonderful and magical.

2011 Regrets - What are yours?

Twitter has an interesting trending topic at the moment: #2011regrets.

While I realize it's mostly for shits and giggles, I saw some RT'd by some of the people I follow on Twitter (through my personal account) that were really quite serious - which made me happy. It also made me wonder: Do I have any #2011regrets?

Personally, I think I'm regret-free this year.

I went on a bunch of great (and not-so-great) trips this year, I was able to see my nieces twice, I had experiences I never thought I would have, I met some great people and although this last half has been a bit hard for me, this year has been good overall.

Sure, I might set my expectations high at the beginning of the year but you know what?  That's all part of the process.  The Oscars will always inspire the filmmaker residing within and then my creative juices bubble over with ideas ranging from silk screening, hair dyeing, tattoos, skate videos, photography and everything in between, I've decided that my new motto for 2012 will be this:

After all my mortality reality checks this year, it is important, now more than ever, to live life to the fullest and express gratitude to all those around you.  Especially the ones closest to you because you never know when the time might come...

Do you have any regrets this year?  Will you promise to live your life to the fullest and express gratitude for everything in your life?  I hope you will because I find that to be the most rewarding.

Thank you, readers!  You're awesome!

Love,
Katzi
