Sauced - an overall horrible experience

As a resident that lives OTP (outside the Perimeter), I don't have a huge, huge handle on Atlanta restaurants. I'm only familiar with a handful of places - especially since my old man is Vegan, which limits our options even more. So the only time I get to experience Atlanta dining is when I venture out with my friends. Last night, I did just that.
We were trying to figure out what do to kick off our girls night and, naturally, we started at Cameli's. You can't go wrong with pizza!

After a healthy amount of delicious pizza, we were trying to figure out where to go next. I'm not too sure of what's good - except for the usual places I know of, so I usually leave it up to everyone else to tell me what's good around town.

I had heard Sauced come up a few times and the one time I tried to go there with L and C, they were closed so I didn't really think too much of it until L brought it up last night and I said we should maybe check it out. In hindsight, we should've gone somewhere else but how were we supposed to know it would be a terrible experience?

It started out awkwardly. We entered the small space and stood at the Host/Hostess/Dj booth and waited. And waited. And waited. We probably would've gone to the bar if it wasn't so crowded. Finally, a guy with permanent stink face seated us - after joining two table tops together. He muttered something snarky as I passed him but I couldn't tell what he said. I should have know that that was not a good sign.
Our waiter showed up and we were kind enough to tell him that we weren't going to order dinner but we were definitely going to get drinks and dessert - because, after all, the Sauced website says that it's a "Restaurant and Lounge". Big mistake because, apparently, that was his invitation to pretty much ignore us the entire time we were there. Luckily, we were able to get one drink each, their bacon peanut brittle and finally, their lemon ice box pie. I don't know how we were able to get those since we pretty much had to catch our waiter on his way back from servicing other tables. I get it - we weren't eating dinner BUT we would've gotten more drinks if he had just come back to give us refills on our water - which didn't happen. And on top of that, I was getting into a story I was telling and I leaned out a little and got elbowed by our waiter. I was the only one apologizing. Why? I don't know but he never said "sorry" for elbowing me. It was an accident, yes, and I acknowledged that it was an accident but for some reason he didn't really seem too involved because I guess it was my fault. Silly me!
The only things to save the experience were: my drink - The Dixie Cup (a little expensive), the lemon ice box pie - which was rich, creamy and delicious and the incredibly good looking bartender (a handsome young fellow with manicured facial hair, slicked back hair and a noticeable "straight edge" tattoo on his left arm - among many others). The bacon peanut brittle didn't grab me as much as I had hoped. Don't get me wrong - it was still good but it wasn't anything to write home about.
The decor was a little bizarre as well. L said that Creative Loafing had said it was like eating inside a Wes Anderson film. Yeah, I guess I could see that but it felt more like hanging out in Eric Foreman's basement. I would've preferred Kitty and Red's presence more than the actual wait staff.

At one point, we had decided we wanted to leave and we were looking out for our waiter when we spotted him behind the bar, talking to the guy who seated us - who was NOT shy about staring at us, and another waitress who joined in on the staring. But what made it worse was we all had exchanged awkward eye contact, which made me think: Okay, I have acknowledged you staring at us and possibly talking shit so I will raise my almost empty glass of water and see if you will do your job and come over to refill it. Nope. No refill, no opportunity for a second drink or even a second dessert. I know we weren't dinner customers and all but we were still customers. We were willing to give you money! We wanted to but apparently, we weren't worth the time. If I hadn't been so enamored with the bartender, I would have walked up to the bar and asked the bartender to close us out since he was the only one who was actually doing his job. But I couldn't muster up the courage. Instead, we waited for our waiter before he finally gave us our check - which was handwritten so we couldn't get his name. No, he did not introduce himself to us when we sat down.
L was telling me she had never experienced such bad service there, so this was a surprise to her! I was entertaining bringing my step-sister to Sauced the next time she was visiting from New York (since it kind of reminded me of a spot we had gone to in Brooklyn) but I took the offer off the table because of the terrible service. The only way I'd take her is if we were able to sit at the bar with the handsome straight edge tattooed bartender serving us.
I think it's safe to say that I'm pretty sure I will not be returning to Sauced and if people ask me about it, I'll be sure to tell them about my horrible experience. And if they're brave enough to venture through, I'll be sure to have them report back.

Skins 2.0

Last night, the MTV version of Skins premiered and I was really excited about it. That is, until I saw the girl who was supposed to be Effy 2.0
I know when you're out all night partying, you're going to look rough the next day - it's a given - but this chick, Eura, looks like a coked out 45 year old hooker. No lie.

At least Effy was gorgeous after a night out of partying. I mean, look at her!

Flawless! Even with her hair and makeup all crazy, she still has her teenage vibe.
Eura, on the other hand, does not. And let's not forget that if the show progresses like the British show, Eura will eventually become the object of affection for three friends.
There's probably more than that but I've only made through season 3 on the UK version. Sorry!

Aaaaaanyways...
Although I didn't really think UK Tony was all that hot, he is 1000 million times hotter than US Tony. Yeah, I said it. I mean, check him out

I know it's not supposed to be a direct copy of the UK version but still! I fell in love with those UK cats and these MTV reboots are nothing but Gossip Girl wannabe hipster punks. Example - the Penn Badgley / Tony guy. WTF?!

At least the US Michelle is prettier than UK Michelle. Sorry! BUT I do appreciate UK Michelle being more relateable than US Michelle.
VS

This one surprised me: Tea. Who the FUCK is Tea? Oh, that's right, she's the lesbian equivalent to Maxxie. WTF?! Why not a gay guy? Tony goes down on him in Russia! Is that what you were trying to avoid? Maxxie also has rough, outdoor sex with one of his bullies. Are you afraid that will cheapen what Kurt is dealing with on Glee? What's the deal? Is it the sex appeal of lesbians? Is it because lesbians are easier to watch than gay men? I LOVED Maxxie and thought he was great but all his awesome storylines will be lost: his attraction to Anwar, his stalker Sketch, his dad getting mad at him for wanting to be a dancer, Tony blowing him, Maxxie helping Tony after Tony's accident...NOT COOL.

And what is up with Cadie? I'm not sure how I feel about her just yet. Cassie was loveable from the start. Cadie is just sad. Let's hope Cadie has the same wide-eyed childlike wonderment Cassie always had.
VS

What can I say about Sid 2.0 - Stanley. He's got luscious locks, a cute baby Sam Rockwell-ish face and he's not at all awkward in the way Sid was...

UK Sid was loveable and the kind of awkward that made you cringe a little because it was almost painful but no matter how shitty Tony was to him, he was always loyal - and you could see that - even when they were fighting. Stanley...not so much...

I'm not too sure how I feel about Abbud since he wasn't really present in the first episode but we'll see how he progresses...
VS

And what's up with Daisy? I know she's supposed to be Jal 2.0 but she dresses better and doesn't seem to have a stick up her ass...YET. Don't get me wrong - I still love Jal (since she was the Liberty of Skins UK) but we'll see how Daisy progresses...(especially with Chris)
VS

And last, but not least, we have Chris. *FACEPALM* UK Chris is loveable, good looking, awkward and just doesn't give a fuck. US Chris is alright but UK Chris is, and always will be, my most favourite character ever. (Next to Cook - but that's another post...)

So there you have it. My rundown of the kids of Skins 2.0. I was trying to watch it objectively. I know it's not supposed to be just like the UK version but you can't help but compare the two since it's still, technically, a remake. I hope the stories and the characters develop a little better but I'm not holding my breath...

Golden Globes 2011

There was a lot of awesome fashion last night at the Golden Globes! I was so happy to see everyone looking so great!
Unfortunately, I tuned in AFTER Chris Colfer's speech but thank God for Tumblr and Twitter! I was able to see his speech a thousand times over and I get tears in my eyes just thinking about it! What a great win!

Wow! Can I just say that the Glee cast is GORGEOUS!!! They all look amazing! Even the ones not pictured looked wonderful!!! My favourite is Jayma Mays. Look at her! She looks stunning!

Megan Fox was gorgeous - as per usual

Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman were wonderful!

I don't care what anyone says - Helena Bonham Carter is fucking awesome! Her outfit was great!

Christina Hendricks was beautiful - as per usual

Bonus shot with Johnny Depp!

Sofia Vergara amazing - as per usual

And now - for a diversion. While the ladies looked amazing...I want to divert to a man collage

Look at them. They are sexy and looking very fancy. I must say that Ryan Gosling was super hot last night! And Regular Joe - well, he's awesome all the time.

Back to the fashion!

Emma Stone looked fabs but I kinda think she was lost in that sea of peach. She should've gone with a darker colour to compliment her pretty pale skin and newly lightened hair...

...but I'm just a blogger.

Amy Adams looked amazing! That blue looks really well against her skintone

I wasn't too sure why Mandy Moore was there but I didn't care - she was beautiful

I've been looking around the blog-o-sphere and seeing a lot of negative criticism for Christina's look last night and all I have to say is this: she did NOT look fat, she did NOT look lazy, she was CURVY and GORGEOUS.

Haters gonna hate...

I didn't know who Kaley Cuoco was until she started crying for her costar Jim Parsons, but her dress is FANTASTIC

Seeing it on the red carpet is not doing it justice. She looked amazing on stage.

Although I haven't seen her performance on Dexter yet, Julia Stiles looked great!

Scarlett Johansson - always gorgeous

But - the best dressed, for me, was - hands down - Olivia Wilde (in Marchesa)

I LOVE IT!! I can't get enough of this dress!
And the shoes were amazing!!

Great job, girl! Love it!

If the Golden Globes were this fabulous, imagine the Oscars! I can't wait! I downloaded the free Oscars app and once they announce the nominees, I'll post my predictions :)
Until next time!

Snowmageddeon 2011

What can I say, it's been a weird week! My Mom (and meteorologists) kept saying it would start snowing on Sunday night and, to be honest, I didn't believe them. I didn't think it was going to get SUPER ULTRA SNOWY for Georgia in January! But it did and I was taken by surprise. I think we all were.
Photos started pouring in on Sunday night in my Facebook feed of snow coming down in Atlanta. It made me a little jealous, at first, since I live above Atlanta and we didn't have any snow at the time. But not too long after, we had snow at my house! And boy, was it coming down fast!
Snowed In

Thus began my adventures in being Snowed In.

The first day wasn't bad - I layered on the clothes and ran out to take pictures! Lots and lots of pictures! And videos! Lots of videos with my new 8mm app and my "still borrowed" Flip camera. I should probably return it to it's rightful owner...

Day 2 wasn't so bad. But I was antsy. And still shutter crazy so I took more photos and videos.

But a girl can only do so much within walking distance from her house.

What's that? Cabin fever, is that you?

Oh hey cabin fever! I'm so glad you could meet me on Day 3!

Yeah...so since I was experiencing light cabin fever on Wednesday, I spazzed out and started shoveling my driveway - which is funny because I have a shared driveway with two other houses. Yeah, 2 whole households that have at least 1 adult in them to help me shovel OUR driveway. But did any adults come out and help me? FUCK NO. So I did what I could do and broke up the ice to reveal: more snow and a 1/2" thick layer of ice. It was driving me crazy! But I had broken up the ice well enough for me and my old man to leave and get some de-icer. At least one of us got the de-icer because when we came back, one of the ladies who we share the driveway with was de-icing her walkway (what a stretch there lady - thanks for the effort) with Morton's table salt. Yes, table salt. *FACEPALM*
No one has said "Thank you" to us for getting de-icer either. Um, in case my neighbours forgot, we don't live in New York, or downtown Atlanta for that matter, so I'm not expecting the city of Alpharetta to get their snowplows out to our subdivision. It's not going to happen. We're going to have to handle our own driveways and pathways. That's what happens when you're a homeowner...*sigh* I guess I'll stop trying to do the responsible thing and let the sun do it's job instead of tiring myself out and making myself sore.

What's the next best thing? Going to work, of course? What? Yes, going to work. I was so happy that I was finally able to leave home on Thursday morning to go into work. Usually, I'm not too jazzed but this time, I was so stoked! It was a white knuckle drive the whole way there and back but it was worth it, I guess. I mean, I was out of the house...so that's a step up, no? Bright side: it's a very short work week. Although I had to do minor things Monday through Wednesday that were work related, I still worked so not all my hours have been lost to the snow. That's a plus.

Let's hope this is the worst it will get for Bad Winter Weather 2011...
Be careful out there!

Love and kisses,
Katzi

Bad Girls Club 6 - And so it begins...

Wow. I haven't been watching Bad Girls Club for very long but I'm all caught up thanks to the holiday marathons. What can I say? These bitches are CRAZY. Of course they are - they're on Bad Girls Club.
So here we are, 6 seasons later and the crazy is still turned up to 11. Who do we have this round?

First up, a feisty redhead: Sydney
She's hot and she kind of reminds me of Lea from BGC5. Not just because of the tattoo / pin-up thing but because she seems really sweet on the surface but you don't want to get on her bad side...Also, I have a thing for redheads

Next, we have a Southern Belle: Lauren
I don't know what it is about Southern girls but I love 'em! And her name is Lauren, just like my lady Lala! If she's anything like my Lala, she's great fun to be around and you DO NOT want to cross her...

Next, we have Char.
Char is the 27 year old career girl who left her job at an ad agency to live in the Bad Girls house. I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I have to give it to her for taking the opportunity to participate in BGC but on the other hand, she might be too old for all the drama. She should know that the drama is a'plenty at the Bad Girls house and she should be old enough to let it go. These girls don't have the life experience she does and it may or may not work for her...

Next, we have Kori
I like her. She may be the Botox Barbie but I don't care. She looks good and she knows it. One day, I will have her confidence...

Up next, we have Jessica
Jessica was the first Bad Girl we met and, boy, was she annoying. I'm sorry but I really don't dig the "yo, what up, b" girls. What's with the fake ghetto attitude? She seems like a scary thug and I'm pretty confident in saying that I already dislike the Jessica/Nikki combo.

Last and certainly least, we have Nikki
The tomboy, the athlete, the bully. That's all I have to say.

The first episode was crazy! Jade drank too much - bottom line - and there was some miscommunication within the Bad Girl house and I think all the gals took it way too far. But I guess it's called Bad Girls Club for a reason. Jade shouldn't have freaked out but she wasn't thinking straight, so I can give her that. But I don't think Nikki and Jessica should have egged her on. She was blitzed out of her mind so, leave it. Drop it and start fresh the next day. BUT NO. That's not the Bad Girl way - which resulted in Jade having Bad Girl overload and leaving after 2 days. As much as you want to hate on that, you can't because sometimes it can be a little too much. She knew what she was signing up for and she realized it was too much. No worries. On to the next one...

Personally, I know I wouldn't be able to handle the BGC house. I'd probably eave early or have ulcers from all the fighting and worrying and petty arguments. OR I'd be with Char, Mother Hen. I feel like I have a lot of qualities in common with her. I wonder if she's a Libra???

Aaaaaanyways...I wonder how long it will take before they add new roommates. And what was up with the opening to the first episode?! All the police, the fighting, the AMBUSH???!?! My girl Lauren was kicking ass, though! I cannot wait until that episode airs! But until then, all I'm waiting on is finding out who goes to the hospital next week! Yikes!

Love and kisses,
Katzi

PS - I think I want to start a drinking game revolving around the phrase "I run ______!!" These Bad Girls like to "run" things: cities, clubs, parties, houses, geographical locations, tv shows, etc. so I wonder if I can keep my attention span on this show long enough to either start a "I run ______" count or drinking game...
I'll have to think about this one before I make anything definite...stay tuned.

Life Resolution: Never Give Up Hope

I might be a little late on this Ted Williams train but I don't care. His story is super inspiring and something we should all really pay attention to.

It all started last night when I was blow drying my hair. My old man was was looking around on Buzz Feed (as usual), so I didn't think anything of it. I shut off the dryer and heard, "Mommy! Mommy!" so I had to ask, "What are you watching?" That's when he shared this clip with me:

I did all I could do to stay composed. Inside, I was a WRECK. All that was going through my head was: Wow, what a voice!, What an incredible story...I was a mess. A total mess. Then, he showed me this clip and I couldn't take it! My heart was bursting with so much love and hope and joy for this man! Then, I saw the final clip:

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

I was overcome with so much joy that he was able to reunite with his mother that I left after the clip finished, closed the door to the bedroom and started crying hysterically.
Even now, as I write this, I have tears in my eyes. Every time I see his face, hear his voice or even think about his story, I can't stop the tears. I think this is such a wonderful story - especially at the beginning of the new year. We need to keep hope alive!
My resolutions for this year were mainly to have nothing but peace and love in my life - keeping all the negativity and hate out of it and this story has compelled me to always have hope.
When you feel like you're losing your way, just remember to never give up hope. Ted Williams never gave up hope and even though, yeah, it might have taken a little while for him to finally find his way, he still found his way by keeping hope alive! Let that be a message to everyone at the start of 2011 and let's hope we can all keep that message for years to come.

Love and kisses,
