Fun on the Boardwalk

We're all caught up on the happenings of Boardwalk Empire season 3 and let me just say these few things...

HOLY CRAP - when Richard Harrow was laying out his guns I was going insane chanting, "He's back!  Richard's BAAAAACK!!"

I LOVE when Richard gets in the killing mood.  I don't know why.  I think it's because he's normally so quiet and reserved and all he wants is a "normal" life but killing is what he does best.  So tragic, yet so romantic.

After a roller coaster ride with Gyp Rosetti, I somehow, fell in love with his volatile ways.  A man who took things way too personally and went to extremes to fix it was also a bit of a softy in some ways and that, to me, was kinda sexy.  I'm sorry.  Gyp was a crazy fucker but I liked him in the end.  Especially when he broke the glass on that soldier's uniform display and took the hat.  I called that so hard and flipped out when he actually did it.

Gyp was a kind of gentle maniac in the sense that he could be so ice cold and have a total poker face the whole time.  He wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty, either.  And his smoky voice was enough to take the chill off.  Read this great write-up about Gyp.  My thoughts exactly!

Gillian can GTFO.  Tommy needed to be taken out of her care since the beginning and that mess with that poor Jimmy look-a-like was painfully obvious from the moment she first said she had to wait for Jimmy to come home (so she could take his money).  I'm surprised Richard didn't say anything.  You KNOW he knew that wasn't Jimmy in that casket.  Well, I guess he couldn't say anything, really.  Gillian had already kicked him out and I think Richard knew Nucky had gotten rid of Jimmy when Richard busted in at the Ritz to deliver some poor henchman to Nucky's office.  Meh - probably even before that.  Who knows - you can never tell with the "quiet ones".

I liked how they dragged out not knowing Jimmy's whereabouts.  Gillian's confrontation to Nucky about how she knew he killed her son was pretty intense and I wished there had been more between them because, after all, it was Nucky who brought The Commodore to see Gillian in the first place and there's all that awkwardly terrible history there...

Billie was adorable.  Too bad Gyp blew her up in an attempt at Nucky and Arnold Rothstein.  I wanted to see the eventual blowup (no pun intended lol) Margaret would've had at her.  And Billie is so preciously quick-witted that I'm sure whatever comeback she would've had would've been hilarious (and extremely bitchy).

Speaking of Mr. Rothstein, how much of an asshole is he?!  Holy shit!  The way he turned out Lucky and Meyer?!  They're just two mixed up kids trying to get a leg up on a good deal!  You can't get mad at them for trying.  And as ice cold as that was, that was a major power play from Mr. Rothstein.  You can't deny that.

Am I the only one who liked Margaret with Owen?  They were so cute together!  Too bad Mr. Slater went out for an errand and was sent back home in a box.  Ouch.

On a much, much lighter note, can we please give a shout out to Richard Harrow for gettin' some much needed lady-attention from his lovely friend Julia.

With all that major shit going down on the boardwalk, I'm glad Richard took Tommy to Julia's - even if her father is a terrible drunk.  They will, hopefully, come back to this storyline in season 4 because I'd hate for Tommy to end up all mixed up like the people he's used to.  He can rise above if he stays with Julia sans her father.  Who knows, maybe her father will straighten out and treat Tommy like his own?

Can I say a few things about Nelson Van Alden / George Mueller?
He bored me to tears with his straight-laced, Bible-reading, Prohibition-enforcing ways.  Even when he ran away and "started over" with the nanny, I was all, "Yawn" but this scene CHANGED EVERYTHING

YES! Finally!!  I was waiting for Van Alden's "gangster" moment because you knew as soon as they started setting up his character from his first second on-screen in season 1, that he'd turn to the "dark side" of the world he was trying to break up.  I was waiting patiently all through the rest of season 1 and all of season 2 but that scene above was THE defining moment for me for Van Alden.

After all that has happened on the boardwalk this past season, I cannot wait for season 4!  I want more Al Capone!  I'm sure Gyp was a vehicle to start bringing Al more to the front and center - the way it should totally be.  I  can't wait to see him evolve into the man we know him as today.  Exciting!

And maybe, just maybe, I'll stay on top of it this time.

American Horror Story: Asylum - Welcome to Briarcliff Indeed

(This post is semi-NSFW)

Okay, so I know that everyone is like "ERMAHGERD American Horror Story scares me so much" but I'm like, "Yeah, I've seen it all before".  Yeah, mmmhmm, same deal this season, folks.  Nothing in that show really scares me BUT do you want to know why I love it?

Some spoilers under the cut!

American Horror Story - A (short) recap of the crazy

Can we please talk about the craziness that is American Horror Story?
Let's start with the beginning.
I was afraid that Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk had lost their "crazy" after Nip/Tuck was over and Glee began.  There was no room on Glee for the level of crazy that was Nip/Tuck.  Enter: American Horror Story.

Thank goodness!  I was afraid that with all that pent up crazy they were holding in, Glee would have that one "very special episode" about a Columbine-esque murder and the entire cast would go down in flames - but no - they spared us and used all their saved up crazy for AHS.

**If you haven't seen the show, I urge you to stop right here!  Don't spoil it for yourself!

Have some holiday cheer with Glee!

This week has been full of manic ups and downs and I think I need some cheering up.  What better thing to cheer me up than performances from this week's Glee!
I hope these make you as happy as they make me.
Enjoy!

Klaine Kisses and Doin' It

Last night's Glee was quite possibly the cutest episode of this season so far!  Although new Warbler Sebastian came on a little TOO strong to Blaine (who wouldn't?!), I thought he was totally adorable.  Blaine was totally swoon-worthy throughout the entire episode - yes, even the drunk parts - and Kurt was just as precious as ever.

I couldn't help but think of my first time.  I felt like Tina while she was talking about hers.  My first time wasn't as perfect as hers but it was definitely memorable and makes a great story!

I'll admit I could've done without Rachel and Finn's story and I LOVED that Coach Bieste got some action last night!  And I was wondering if Damian McGinty's brief cameo in last night's episode counted as one of his 7 that he won from The Glee Project.  It better not because I heart him too much for him to just be in the background...

I was also wondering why Atlanta doesn't have a club called Scandals!  I would love it!  Geoff said that we should open one and we could offer 1/2 off drink specials for Project Runway viewing parties - which would elevate from live-blogging to UStream video blogging (YESSS!) - and we could have Drag Race viewing parties and themed drag nights.  That would be my ultimate drag fantasy come true!!  I would LOVE IT!  Universe, it's in your hands to help me make this a reality!  I want this!!!  I need this!!!

Aaaaaaanyways...the She Loves You Tumblr is joining in on "The Morning After" gif posts from last night's episode so, I'll duck out of here and continue the reblogging of the cutest gifs from last night.  And just so you all know, I haven't been this giddy about an episode of Glee since Kurt and Blaine's first kiss!  Memories!

It's Almost Glee Day!

We've all been waiting for it and it's almost here: the return of Glee! I can't wait! I saw this cute article on their Facebook page - but it wasn't the article that drew me in, oh no. It was this dreamboat:

HNNNNNNGGGGGGG

And to make it worse (well, actually better), I went and looked for more of these school portraits and found these gems:

LOVES IT!! How great does Lea Michele look?!  How dreamy does Chris Colfer look?!
They're all great but these are my faves out of the bunch. Okay you caught me - I love all of them but I didn't want to over do it. If you want, check out the full gallery here!

I can already say this: I have MAJOR hair envy. Just look at how great Dianna Agron looks with pink hair!!

I can easily say that I'm supper jealous of her fierceness. Maybe I'll have to bring some pink back to my own hair - whether it's a track or if I get adventurous enough, I can try dyeing my hair again. I might not risk it since it's still on the mend.

Tomorrow is the day, my dears!  Get ready!

Project Runway - All About Nina: The Recap

On this episode of Project Runway, Becky (New Peach) was right about Anya because Anya has no sewing skills, no fashion skills and basically no tailoring skills and she's just kind of flying by with whoever will help her.  Viktor was right about her because there's going to come a challenge where she's not going to get any help from anybody and she's going struggle and her "fast learner" skills won't be able to help her.  I feel like someone should have pointed out that she had received help from the other contestants.  I know it's been done in the past - our designers helping each other out and all - but this time, it was like straight up "Let me show you how to do this since you have no idea".  I think it's worse than having pattern books stashed under your bed - but that's just me.  And I can't believe she's in the lead for fan favorite!  WTF??!?!?!?

Enough about what I think about Anya, let's talk about Nina!

Nina was the princess of this episode!  Awwww!  Too bad she hated pretty much everything.  Nah, I'm just kidding - she hated mostly everything, not everything everything.
Let's see how our fair contestants held up...

Dear Starz, Why are you killing the show I love?!

Starz is great.  First they came out with the bloody and extremely epic Spartacus: Blood and Sand.  The show was sort of comical, in the trying to capture the spirit of 300 kind of way, BUT it brought out the secret blood lust in me.  The desire to watch scantily clad men fight each other to the death was high.  And having a sexy cast didn't hurt either.
Lucy Lawless was amazing as Lucretia, Andy Whitfield was incredible as Spartacus and Manu Bennet was swoon-worthy as the Champion of Caupa, Crixus.  Everyone else was wonderful, too.  I can't forget the rest of the amazing cast Spartacus had but there was one thing that hurt the production of the second season and that was the illness Andy Whitfield was battling: non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. I'll admit, the compromise pre-quel season 2, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena was a little hard to watch since Andy Whitfield was not included at all and it seems as though Andy Whitfield has passed the torch to Liam McIntyre as the new Spartacus.  While Spartacus: Gods of the Arena was still epic and bloodier and sexier than ever, I still missed Sparty himself - even though Gannicus had won me over by the season's end.

With all that going on, I understand Spartacus can't be the same without Andy Whitfield but I would much rather him rest and fight the good fight and make it through before he over-works himself.  I am getting excited because Katrina Law is tweeting about behind the scenes antics on the set of Spartacus and she has said that Liam McIntyre will be joining her and other members of the cast at Comic Con this year! YES!!  I kinda wish I was going (to see Manu Bennett up close and personal).

But there was a void.  A blood thirsty void that Spartacus left.  It needed to be filled and Starz' other original show, Camelot, fit that bill perfectly.

While Camelot wasn't as bloody or as full of nakedness as Spartacus, Camelot was - for the lack of a better phrase - FUCKING AWESOME.  I've seen the Merlin tv movie, I've seen most of the King Arthur movies (not Russel Crowe one though...), I've read the books (a long time ago but still) and I LOVE the Arthurian legend.  Camelot captured what all the other tv movies and regular movies couldn't.
Camelot's cast was gorgeous too.  Jamie Campbell Bower - abandoning his seat with the Volturi to become the boy king and the always flawless Eva Green - showcasing her smoldering sultry-ness as Morgan Pendragon.  Those two alone were enough for me

I mean, look at them! Gorgeous, young, talented, badass...And then Starz had to throw in Joseph Fiennes as an even more badass version of Merlin

And on top of THAT, Starz had to throw in Clive Standen as Gawain, a warrior living on the outskirts of Camelot who gets recruited as one of the King's men.

We liked to refer to Gawain as the "Andrew WK of Camelot".

Le swoon

Besides the insanely sexy cast, Camelot reignited the Arthurian legend in me.While I remember key bits and pieces from the legend,  Camelot made them that much more entertaining.  Especially the Lady of the Lake story and the sword in the stone.  Both are familiar stories but Camelot gave them the Starz twist.  Not to mention the "killing" of Morgan Pendragon and the "birth" of Morgan le Fay.  But one thing was missing: Lancelot.  Sure, Leontes was like the Lancelot we all know but his story was downright awesome.  And they kind of left it open for season 2 as they were putting together the legendary "round table" that Lancelot would be coming.

But alas, Camelot will NOT be picked up for a second season.  WHY STARZ WHY???!?!?!  Don't wimp out because of Game of Thrones or ratings.  You have what those shows don't have: Accessability to MORE viewers via Netflix Instant after the season has ended.  I'm sure a TON of viewers have been watching via Netflix Instant (including me).  Is there no way to monitor those views?  I read (here) that one of the challenges of filming Camelot is conflicting schedules with the cast but you know what, if viewers can wait forever for Spartacus, we can wait forever for Camelot.  We don't want to but we will.  I know I will.  I love Camelot and I want more.  LOTS MORE.  I want to see the story progress with all the characters we all know and love.  And I want the introduction to Lancelot and the Knights of the Round Table!  Give it to me, Starz!  Why would you let the season end in such a cliffhanger and then not renew it?!?!?!

I am truly devastated.

I guess I'll just have to re-watch season 1 on Netflix Instant.  And stare at this Gawain gif forever

MTV's Skins Revamp Gets Canceled

Yes folks, it's true - the MTV revamp of Skins has been canceled. I didn't think the US was ready for a show like that. The UK version works better for me because the cast is way more believable. Like I compared before, the US version looks like a bunch of kids that look old and busted way before they're supposed to be and I know it wasn't supposed to be a direct copy of the UK show - but still.

The UK show was such a hit (for me) because I could totally relate to ALL the characters. Yes, I'm way older than them BUT I could still relate my own experiences to those on the show because I had very similar experiences growing up. Skins gen 2 is a little bit different BUT the characters are extremely likeable - especially Cook. I love him!

But that goes to show that the MTV version was a little less relatable. To me, it kind of emphasized America's view on society: kids are looking older and older than the age they actually are. I could go more in depth but I won't because then it turns into a race issue (and that is trouble all on its own) and a size issue (and I'm not ready to tackle that one right now). But I will say that they would change the gay character from male to female - even though Tea is cute but Maxxie was precious beyond all get out and he was such a wonderful character!  I hate to admit it but the US still isn't ready to see male-on-male action. Personally, I love it but some people just aren't ready.

It pains me to say this but I think America's speed, right now, is only at Teen Mom. We'll catch up sooner or later...(I hope)

Love and kisses,

Bad Girls Club 6 - And so it begins...

Wow. I haven't been watching Bad Girls Club for very long but I'm all caught up thanks to the holiday marathons. What can I say? These bitches are CRAZY. Of course they are - they're on Bad Girls Club.
So here we are, 6 seasons later and the crazy is still turned up to 11. Who do we have this round?

First up, a feisty redhead: Sydney
She's hot and she kind of reminds me of Lea from BGC5. Not just because of the tattoo / pin-up thing but because she seems really sweet on the surface but you don't want to get on her bad side...Also, I have a thing for redheads

Next, we have a Southern Belle: Lauren
I don't know what it is about Southern girls but I love 'em! And her name is Lauren, just like my lady Lala! If she's anything like my Lala, she's great fun to be around and you DO NOT want to cross her...

Next, we have Char.
Char is the 27 year old career girl who left her job at an ad agency to live in the Bad Girls house. I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I have to give it to her for taking the opportunity to participate in BGC but on the other hand, she might be too old for all the drama. She should know that the drama is a'plenty at the Bad Girls house and she should be old enough to let it go. These girls don't have the life experience she does and it may or may not work for her...

Next, we have Kori
I like her. She may be the Botox Barbie but I don't care. She looks good and she knows it. One day, I will have her confidence...

Up next, we have Jessica
Jessica was the first Bad Girl we met and, boy, was she annoying. I'm sorry but I really don't dig the "yo, what up, b" girls. What's with the fake ghetto attitude? She seems like a scary thug and I'm pretty confident in saying that I already dislike the Jessica/Nikki combo.

Last and certainly least, we have Nikki
The tomboy, the athlete, the bully. That's all I have to say.

The first episode was crazy! Jade drank too much - bottom line - and there was some miscommunication within the Bad Girl house and I think all the gals took it way too far. But I guess it's called Bad Girls Club for a reason. Jade shouldn't have freaked out but she wasn't thinking straight, so I can give her that. But I don't think Nikki and Jessica should have egged her on. She was blitzed out of her mind so, leave it. Drop it and start fresh the next day. BUT NO. That's not the Bad Girl way - which resulted in Jade having Bad Girl overload and leaving after 2 days. As much as you want to hate on that, you can't because sometimes it can be a little too much. She knew what she was signing up for and she realized it was too much. No worries. On to the next one...

Personally, I know I wouldn't be able to handle the BGC house. I'd probably eave early or have ulcers from all the fighting and worrying and petty arguments. OR I'd be with Char, Mother Hen. I feel like I have a lot of qualities in common with her. I wonder if she's a Libra???

Aaaaaanyways...I wonder how long it will take before they add new roommates. And what was up with the opening to the first episode?! All the police, the fighting, the AMBUSH???!?! My girl Lauren was kicking ass, though! I cannot wait until that episode airs! But until then, all I'm waiting on is finding out who goes to the hospital next week! Yikes!

Love and kisses,
Katzi
S.L.Y.A.S.D.I.

PS - I think I want to start a drinking game revolving around the phrase "I run ______!!" These Bad Girls like to "run" things: cities, clubs, parties, houses, geographical locations, tv shows, etc. so I wonder if I can keep my attention span on this show long enough to either start a "I run ______" count or drinking game...
I'll have to think about this one before I make anything definite...stay tuned.

Skins: British Degrassi with dubstep and more "It goes there" moments

I'd been seeing Skins screen shots floating on my Tumblr dash for, like, ever and I never knew what it was until a few months ago when I realized I could watch it via Netflix Instant.
Skins is very much like Degrassi: TNG - the tortured youth of today and all the problems they face. What kind of problems? Oh you know, the usual: eating disorders, homosexuality, homophobia, teen pregnancy, parental abandonment, parental loss, getting hit by trucks, RAVES, drugs, alcohol, obession...well, you get the point.
At first, it was a little rough getting into Vol. 1 since each episode introduced you to a specific character but towards the end, after you've been properly introduced and the story can move on, I was hooked.

The first episode introduces you to Tony.

Good-looking (I guess - he's not my type) and he's dating the popular girl (I guess Michelle is our equivalent to the popular girl). He parties and he's very open with his sexuality - which I think is great. The downside: he's kind of a douche (obvs). He calls his gal "Nips" and keeps telling her that one tit is bigger than the other, making her feel like crap. He also takes advantage of ALL of his friends - which is not cool. Arrogant prick.

Then there's Cassie.

She's flawed. She has an eating disorder, she attempts suicide (later on in the season) and she's one of my favourite characters. She's like a nymph. Everything is "cool" and dreamy to her. She always has a very breathy voice and she seems at ease but you can tell she's hurting all the time. You instantly want to hold her and make sure her world never crashes down on her.

Next up is Jal.

She's the Liberty of the group. She's in band, she's pretty straight laced and I would say she's the responsible one of the whole group. I like her but I like her more in Vol. 2...(can't give too much away)

Next is Chris.

He is, without a doubt, my favourite guy (next to Maxxie). He's so happy-go-lucky it's infectious. But - we meet him after he wakes up to find out that his mother has abandoned him. What does he do? He takes the money she's left him and goes on a bender, resulting in a gigantic party at his house. You gotta love him but he needs help...And you can't help but love him even more when he starts sleeping with his teacher (who reminds me of Katy Perry)!

Here we come to Sid.

Tony's best friend. And he's in love with Tony's gal, Michelle. But there's one small problem - Tony has been trying to hook Sid with with Cassie (who is in love with him) but he won't really give in so easily, right away. But Sid has other problems: Tony takes advantage of him a little too much (obvs) and he's failing in school. Not to mention his mother is leaving his father and his father has crazy high expectations of him. Sid is likeable with all his flaws and I like him even more in Vol. 2.

Up next the power duo of Maxxie and Anwar

Maxxie is one of my favourite guys on the show. He's cool, he dresses well and he's gay - which I guess would make him the Marco of the group. His best friend is Anwar (played by Slumdog Millionaire's Dev Patel). They're pretty inseperable - that is, until Anwar discovers Maxxie has a bit of a crush on him and he gets all weirded out because he's afraid Maxxie will "gay him". Through it all, they go through some pretty intense shit and they make it out in the end. Their situation gets kind of funnier in Vol. 2 when Maxxie's stalker starts sleeping with Anwar and...you just have to watch.

And now, we're at Michelle.

She's kind of average looking - which is a good thing because that makes her more relatable. What can I say about her? She's a party girl, she's Tony's gal, Sid's in love with her and she's BFFs with Jal and Cassie. Her mother marries too quickly and that makes her home life a little too unstable. Tony treats her like crap, too. Tony and Maxxie get all touchy feely on a school trip to Russia with Michelle pretending to be asleep in the same room. She sees this as the last straw and breaks up with Tony. BUT like most girls in love, she's still not over him and in the finale, something happens between her and Tony that is totally tragic and beautiful at the same time - but it makes it hard on their relationship in Vol. 2 and Sid might have his dream come true with Michelle.

We can't forget about Effy, though!

Effy is Tony's younger sister. She barely says anything and yet, she's one of the best characters on the show. She parties HARD and in her episode, she parties so hard, she gets quite fucked up and if the guys had the chance, they probably would have left her for dead. Thank goodness Tony showed up when he did... Effy has it rough in Vol. 2 but she still maintains her secret party life - which I love because she dresses so well!

Vol. 1 ends in a big way - which I don't really want to reveal here if you haven't seen it but it will definitely leave you breathless for Vol. 2. One thing that I appreciate about Skins is that it's so raw. They cuss, they fight, they get naked, they have sex, they drink, they do drugs and it just feels a little more real than Degrassi ever did. There might not be a cocaine nosebleed in the style of Craig but there definitely are some blackouts - which kind of scared me. And one thing I really do appreciate is the music. The kids rave. They party with glowsticks, pills and tabs. Every time they go to a party, I wish I was there too! Parties made me so happy when I was their age (whoa - I'm old) and I want that to come back in a major way. It feels like it's on the cusp of fully returning to the good old rave days of the '90's but it's not quite there yet... I thought it would be close with the MTV version of Skins but I'm not really interested in seeing that so I'm not sure if that would generate any intrest in rave culture. It's all "scene" or "cyber" now. In any case, I'm having a lot of fun watching it and Vol. 2 has really stepped it up since Vol. 1. I'm officially hooked and I can't get enough!

Love and kisses,
Katzi

Real Housewives of Atlanta: WTPhaedra?!

What is up with people needing documentation on this show?!
I could understand it between Shereé and "Dr" Tiy-E Muhammad but what's all this between Kim and Phaedra?
Although I do appreciate Phaedra saying gems like, "Just because she strips in a nurse outfit doesn't make her a real nurse" but seriously Phaedra...what are you hiding?
You aren't fooling anyone. We all know your baby was full term even though you were saying you were only 7 months or whatever. Please. Stop. It. I know you're trying to keep your "Southern Belle" classy lady act intact but PLEASE girlfriend, your baby was NOT conceived in wedlock. And you know what, that's okay. Are any babies conceived that way in this day and age? Not really. Who's going to judge you? Nobody, honey. But you're making it worse by being on TV and saying you were knocked up after you were married when we all know you weren't. What are you playing at?
I didn't have a reason to judge you before - even though you say you're an entertainment lawyer and all that and you're married to a convict and whatever and you wear too much makeup but I can let that one slide BUT - the fact that you're trying to maintain the time frame you were knocked up is just silly. STOP. IT. That's not very lady-like.

What else isn't lady-like? Cynthia's Friend Contract with NeNe. Um...WHAT?!

Why was this necessary? Is she really that scared of losing friends? Is it because she doesn't really have any friends? Is it because she hasn't had "real" friends in so long she has forgotten how to be a friend? And when NeNe confessed to showing it to Kim, Cynthia was trying to play it off as a joke. Asking for notarization for friend termination - or whatever the rules were - is not a joke. That is some serious bullshit right there.
To be honest, I'm a little worried about Cynthia. How is her relationship? I mean, her husband was jealous of NeNe, Cynthia asked for a fucking Friend Contract, she seems like she struggles in group settings. What is wrong with her? Is she that socially awkward? I think so. I guess when people tell you you're amazing all the time and you get into a vapid bubble of nobody but yourself, you tend to forget what real interaction is. And then you get into weird relationships and you have people sign contracts. She seems like she's constantly doubting her decision to marry whatever his name is and she is so awkward in front of people. Is it the cameras? Would that be it? I don't know...I never really felt comfortable with her since the first time I saw her on the show. I felt kind of sorry for her. She has a kind of silent suffering going on and I don't like it. Maybe I'm wrong.

Until next time, catch more RHOA antics here.

Love and kisses,
Katzi
