Wacky Wednesday: My Top 10 Gifs

I was going through my gif tag (ALL 32 pages of them) on the Tumblr and I'm CRYING LAUGHING at the stupid things I post / reblog!!  Why was hitting up my gif tag?  I was actually looking for something work-related.  Whaaaaaaat?!  Yes, I really, truly was.
SPOILER: I didn't find it BUT I did find my top 10 favorite gifs to share with you!

You know me - I love blood on people and this gif from Neil Jordan's Byzantium is the most beautiful display of people covered in blood that I have ever seen.  No surprise because it's Neil FREAKING Jordan.

Paul Rudd is endlessly cute as the socially awkward Peter Klaven in one of my most favorite silly movies - I Love You, Man.  And if you're familiar with the conversations my brother and I have on Tumblr, you know that I'm slowly becoming Peter Klaven

It wouldn't be a gif post without some GLEE!! Oh my gosh! I open my mouth and a little purse falls out!

So great! I forget what was happening here but I remember LOVING this lil scene.  Oh that's right - Mercedes was having a hilarious dream sequence ^__^

Seriously, I love this gif so much, I had to put it to music.  And because I love that song so much, I had to record a praying mantis dancing to it on my Instagram.  Watch it!

Nothing quite like bb Nathan being his adorable self.

And you're right - I did post this to the Tumblr already but you know what?  It's better with descriptions.  And you know there will be a Part II because there were WAAAAY more funny ones.  I mean, come on, I combed through 32 pages of gifs and I'm constantly reblogging more and more every day so...there's that.

And now for a series I will call "Katzi's First French Press"

French Press French Press French Press French Press mess

Since the old man doesn't particularly like coffee, there's been no need to ever get a coffee maker but my mom's cousin remembered that I really REALLY liked coffee from the reunion trip so she sent me some. Since I didn't own a brewer or need a large one, my mom and I settled on this reasonably priced French Press.  Yes, I made a mess - I wouldn't be me if I hadn't.  It turns out that what I really need is a percolator so...I'm on the hunt!

Pizza Time!

Saturday, April 24, I started something I never dreamed of starting: a diet.
Yep. I started a freakin' diet. It's been a tough month but I've been powering through it. I'm trying to stay positive and upbeat about the whole thing but it's hard. It's like quitting cold turkey - I'm an emotional wreck. I'm hungry a lot. Whenever I see food, I get overwhelmed with sadness and longing for it. When I indulge (I try to at least once a week but I don't go overboard), I feel guilty. It's a love/hate thing that's really taking its toll on me but in the end, I will benefit and it will be worth it.
While I was at the grocery store, I had to buy the Cooking Light magazine pizza issue. I mean, I love pizza more than anything and the fact that I had been without it this long (except the "diet approved" pizza) was driving me crazy. So I declared that we would make pizza on Sunday.
It started with the sauce.
Making sauce
The recipe came straight from the magazine and was easier than I would have ever imagined. One major upside to this whole diet thing is that I'm not afraid to cook anymore. I used to watch Food Network all day, every day and I had all the cooking techniques down but I was afraid to apply them in my every day life. This has all changed AND I can apply everything I have learned watching Food Network to my food. Including making this very basic but really delicious sauce.
Then came time for the dough.
My old man has a book called Vegan With A Vengeance where we usually take our pizza dough recipe from but this time, we followed the magazine's recipe. Only we missed one major step: the dough needed to sit in the fridge for 24 hours. WTF??!!! I can't wait that long! Vegan With A Vengeance has a shorter prep time with only 1 hour of wait time for the dough to rise but we didn't make it because it calls for sugar in the recipe. Sweet baby Jeebus! What are we to do??? After pulling and stretching the dough, it was still too sticky. I was ready to give up until we decided that since Publix sells pizza dough, we should just get that and let our original batch go back to the fridge. All was not lost!
Raw dough
Then came the topping.
My original idea was to make a Pizza Margherita but we forgot the basil. Why, oh why?! I got the damn fresh mozzarella but I left the basil! Now it would just be a basic cheese pizza. Meh. That's okay.

Into the oven with you, little pizza! You look good, you smell good and now...the moment of truth. What will you look like when you come out? What will you taste like?
131/365: Homemade pizza

Success! The pizza was amazing! Although we had a little "dough disaster", it was still pretty awesome. I'll definitely have to try it again and maybe get all fancy with it and see how it goes.

Katzi VS Pizza

If you watch TV as much as I do, I'm sure you've seen those eating shows and you've probably come across Man VS Food on the Travel Channel. Not too long ago, I was able to catch the one in Atlanta. I was surprised to see that my most favourite of all foods - Pizza - would have an eating challenge here. New York or Chicago, I could totally see having pizza challenges with no question but Atlanta? An unlikely place to throwdown. When you think Atlanta, you think South. Southern food. Kevin Gillespie's beard, I mean, his awesomeness on this bizarro season of Top Chef.  But the last thing you would think was the Carnivore Challenge. If you love pizza as much as I do, you'd want to check it out for yourself but it's something you don't want to do alone.
I shared it with the only other people I knew who would appreciate it: W&B. They, too, wanted to experience the beast. They went on 3 separate occasions (since they're significantly closer to Big Pie in the Sky than I am) and when they came back from Thanksgiving in Hawaii (lucky!!), I finally was able to go.

There it was: the place that made the 30 inch pizza. But what toppings? I wanted to just have bacon. But B wasn't going to let me have that. He kept saying that if I was going to get bacon, I might as well get the Carnivore. Should I? Shouldn't I? I'm watching what I eat nowadays and bacon is a big enough indulgence for me but as I stood there, looking at the menu above the pick up window, it just made sense. Why just bacon? Why not go all out and just get the damn Carnivore slices? So, B had me and I gave in. We had it made into 8 (giant) slices: 2 Carnivore, 2 with jalapenos and pineapples, 2 with black olives, pepperoni and I can't remember, and 2 classic: pepperoni and cheese. It takes 40-45 minutes to make it but it's totally worth every minute.

It was beautiful. 30 inches of pizza madness! I barely made it through just one slice of the Carnivore - imagine taking the challenge. It was crazy! It tasted great and it was an awesome experience, especially if you love pizza and food as much as I do. And since it took me a bit to get through just one slice, you know I had to take some home.

Keep in mind that there are only 2 slices in that box but the box is big enough for a large pizza from other pizza places. That's a serious amount of pizza. There wasn't even room in the fridge, so I had to store it in the oven. I could've individually wrapped them in foil and found a way to put them in the fridge but I was tired - I always get carried away with W&B and since they were gone for 2 weeks, I was going crazy! So I just put the pizza in the oven and called it a night. But we would meet again in the morning...

It was so good! I have a bad habit of over-cooking things because I like cheese when it's burnt and bubbly but B&W gave me really good re-heating advice: don't heat it for longer than just a few minutes. I didn't heat it for too long and it was just enough. It was so good but like other foods, it's better fresh out of the oven.
I highly recommend going if you're in the area. It's definitely worth the drive.

Kisses,
Katzi
